    Florida

    May 15, 2025 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 81 °F

Well, we're back in the USA for a bit. The first stop was to see my mom, sister, and her family. No pictures (AGAIN) 😕
Just shots of FLL on the way into Miami.

  • Thinking of Kylan

    May 22, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 104 °F

A little fun in the local Costco. Not because he is so into Pokémon, but because he just started a new job working for them!

  • Universal Studios Hollywood

    May 27, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 64 °F

Our first stop on our whirlwind summer tour was USH! We checked into our hotel right around the corner from the park and prepared for the next two days of fun.

  • Between the parks

    May 29, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

We had a gap day between USH and Disneyland, so we went to Hollywood and Santa Monica Beach.
At the end of our day off, we checked into our hotel right across the street from the next park.

  • Disneyland 1

    May 30, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 64 °F

    We're going to Disneyland!!!
We got up bright and early to arrive at the park when it opened. It was great being across the street. We were able to go home for lunch and dinner.
And what a fun, exhausting day in the park.Read more

  • Disneyland 2

    June 1, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

It was a three day park pass. This was the third day. We spent it back at Disneyland. We finally got to do Tayana's Bayou Adventure. Formerly known as Splash Mountain, be sure to check out the look on Lyra's face as we head down the waterfall. 😅Read more

  • Santa Cruz sit

    Jun 5–15, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 63 °F

After all the amusement park fun, we headed up the coast to Santa Cruz for a 10 day house sit. Well, technically, it was two house sits separated by one day, but at the same house. So we never left.
We visited the beach several times but unfortunately it was cold every time. The family did have some electric scooters, so Lyra got to try her hand on an electric scooter, and she got to ride their bike on all of our walks.
While we were there, we were able to participate in the No Kings protest.

  • Carson and Virginia City

    June 19, 2025 in the United States ⋅ 🌬 77 °F

Next on our summer tour, we headed to Carson City for a visit to Anna's parents.
While there, they took us all up to Virginia City. An old gold mining town turned tourist attraction. It's full of old west history, and it's where Mark Twain got his start in the newspaper business. After we got back, Lyra graciously treated us to a taffy bar and shared some of her spoils from the trip.Read more

  • Nude beach hike

    June 23, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 63 °F

One of the days while in Carson, we headed up to Lake Tahoe to do a hike around the lake and possibly swim if it was warm enough.
Unbeknownst to us was that the only good access to the lake on this hike was at a clothing optional beach. Oops! Lyra was not a fan, so we were out of there.
Otherwise, the hike was fun. Lyra brought her new camera and documented her journey.

  • Reno sit

    Jun 25–30, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

We house sat for a friend of Anna's parents in Reno for 5 days before heading off to our raft trip.

  • Paddle boarding

    June 26, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

We headed back up to Lake Tahoe to do some paddle boarding but ran into some snags.
The beach access was closed. We decided to try Spooner Lake close by. We got to paddle board, but it didn't have the same joyous impact we were expecting in the beautiful waters of Lake Tahoe. It's a small lake, and the wind was strong, so we were blown effortlessly across the lake but had to paddle like hell to get back. 😩😅Read more

  • Hells Canyon Rafting

    Jul 1–4, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

From Reno, we headed up to eastern Oregon to meet our friends, Don & and Mia, who graciously invited us to four days of camping and white water rafting through Hells Canyon on the Snake River.
Lots of fun and excitement. We saw bald eagles, bear, deer, chuckers, geese, ducks, turkey, beetles, and LOTS of spiders.
We caught lots of fish and saw lots of stars and a beautiful sunrise. We visited some historical locations, and we got soaked in the rain on the last day.

  • Vasquez Rocks & Placerita Canyon

    July 15, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

We were going to arrive too early so we decided to do a little sightseeing.
Vasquez Rocks was used as the set for many old western movies. It also has some geographical significance, but don't ask me what it is.
Placerita Cayon Nature Center was in the same general area, so we made a quick stop there. We didn't have time to hike any of the trails, but we got to enjoy some of these animals that were there on display.

We bolted out of Burbank straight to the Phoenix area, dropped Lyra off with her mom and headed to three miniature poodles in Scottsdale.

  • Scottsdale sit 2

    August 9, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 90 °F

A few days after our first sit in Scottsdale, we found another. This one also has a pool, but it also has a theater room, a pinball room, elaborate ceilings, a giant kitchen with state of art appliances...
This was probably the fanciest house we've stayed in. Oh, and a cute kitty, too.

  • Scottsdale sit 3

    August 22, 2025 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 88 °F

In our never-ending quest for five-star reviews, we took one more sit in Scottsdale. It was way up north, so it prevented much social interaction with family. We mostly stayed at home and enjoyed all the creepy/amazing dolls. And of course Lucy the cat.
There is currently a hawk residing in the neighborhood, which drinks from the pond and eats breakfast on the fence.
