On our way to Kidwelly, where Grandma O's ancestors came from. Fingers crossed we survive the various forms of travel (bus, train, feet) to get there and back again.

We've spent time wandering through Kidwelly castle and are now stopping to have lunch and tea. It was odd those moments when I would remember vividly taking pictures of specific little scenes back in 1995 and yet I could not remember the overall castle. Funny how memory works. Uncle Dennis clearly loved the place. He was only halfway through when we finished. He's going back for another few hours after we eat. It's been great to see his face while he was walking around. I could easily see what he was like as a kid.Read more

Just got back from a very wet, but still pretty boat trip out to Ramsey Island. I'm not sure my jeans will ever dry out!

Solva Wollen Mill

Mom and I couldn't resist taking a side trip to the Solva Woollen Mill. Lovely, lovely things to be found here. Also a nice tea room where we are enjoying a pot of tea and some Victoria sponge. Yummm.

It's my last day here, and a rainy one at that. I'm off to Cardiff for the day before catching the first of many flight home.

Here for the day before flying home tomorrow. The rain stopped just as I got off the train. Nice!

Cardiff castle was lovely, too bad Uncle Dennis couldn't see it. He would have loved it. Everything from Roman ruins right up through air raid shelters all in one place.

Afterward I went to the Doctor Who Experience. It made my nerd soul very happy.Read more

I'm Back (Sort Of)

We've survived the first leg of the journey home, the flight from Cardiff to Dublin and Dublin to Atlanta. Cardiff to Dublin was rough. The flight was almost three hours late, which meant we got to the hotel at 1am and had to head back to the airport at 7am. Ugh. No sleep that night.

The next flight was good, though they were unable to check my luggags through to Medford and there isn't time to colkect it, check it, go through security and get on the plane on time in San Francisco, so I have the choice of leaving my luggage but catching the flight or getting my luggage and driving home. Driving it is! Ugh. My long travel day just got longer.Read more
