Tallinn, EE part 2

A beautiful, compact medieval city with tight and twisty cobbled streets. Quite a challenge for the car. Beautiful churches, houses and other buildings.

Moving through the Baltic states, we have started exploring Riga.

We are now in Lithuania, the last of the Baltic states, wandering the streets of Vilnius.

A full day exploring the many churches of Vilnius. Sadly so much was destroyed during occupation but they are slowly re-building and restoring.

Exploring Warsaw Old Town which has been completely re-constructed using bricks taken from other towns in Poland.
Deutschland

Snuck back into Germany after a motorway dash across Poland. Arrived in Berlin too exhausted to do owt.
Brandenburg Tor - Berlin DE

An incredibly hot day in Berlin. Just a few select spots to get a taste of how it was split for so long.
Glienicker Brücke

Today we visited the Bridge of Spies. This is one of the many places where East and West Berlin were joined/split.
Later we crossed the inner border between East and West Germany.
Hotel Hennies, Hannover DE

Overnight stop near Hannover. Deer and horses in the garden.
Kölner Dom

From Hannover to Köln. Very hot still but enjoyed the magnificent cathedral.
Aachen DE

An unexpectedly delightful tour of Aachen, full of history and splendour. Topped off by a group of brass musicians playing beautiful music as we sat in the Cathedral square.

Final hotel of our European tour. Obviously it used to be a mill.

Home at last! We have sadly come to the end of our Middle Aged Gap Year. We have had a fantastic time and seen some amazing places. And so many memories it is hard to keep track of them all.
