Lawn bowling.?

We got up sort of early to check out and leave CPD before traffic would be messy, but it was all good as it meant breakfast in Kirribilli with a nice view of Sydney harbour with the bridge and the opera house.
First point on the agenda was wine tasting in Hunter valley, while the others tasted a few wines, I caught up on my journal.
From Hunter valley we headed towards Tamworth, a medium sized town a bit inland. On the way we stopped for lunch and snack breaks.
As we made it to Tamworth we immediately headed to the lawn bowling club. Lawn bowling is a game quite similar to petanque, only the bowls are larger and only weighted on one side, which make the curl when they slow down.
Emily and I played Vicky and Stuart. At first Emily and I were dominating, but Vicky and Stuart improved quickly and we had some close matches with individual bowls being played on pro level from all of us.
In the end Emily and I claimed a narrow victory. I expected to enjoy lawn bowl, but not as much as I actually did, it was great fun.
As we walked back we went straight to dinner with a trivia night.Read more

Sydney und Roadtrip nach Tamworth

Sydney ist eine großartige Stadt. Dort wird einem wirklich viel geboten. Egal ob Lust auf Party, ruhesuchend, Strand Urlaub, Sightseeing, spirituelle Orte, usw... Man findet hier Alles!

Nur 2 Stunden außerhalb von Sydney liegt das berühmte Hunter Valley mit den großen Vineyards. Bereits um 10:30 Uhr wurde der Tag mit einer Weinverkostung gestartet. Diejenigen die mich kennen, wissen wie viel Alkohol ich vertrage bevor ich auf dem Tisch tanze. Ich würde sagen, das Foto unten ist selbsterklärend 🍷😀

Unsere Reise ging anschließend weiter hoch in den Norden mit dem Ziel Tamworth. Dies ist die älteste Country(musik) Stadt in ganz Australien und man bekommt hier den Linedance und australisches Lawn-Bowling (Pensionisten Boccia) gelehrt, bevor es Abends zu einer Runde Trivial Persuit in die Bar geht. Ich würde sagen, dass die Einwohner nur irgendwie versuchen die Zeit totzuschlagen.
Alles in Allem ist hier sowas von Tote Hose und in unserem Hostel wohnt genau noch eine weitere Person, die sich soooo gefreut hat als wir eingecheckt haben, da sie ansonsten ganz alleine in dem Gebäude ist. Eine richtige Geisterstadt 🤭

Von Sydney über das Hunter Valley nach Tamworth
Im Hunter Valley durften wir Weine verkosten, danach gings weiter nach Tamworth, eine lustige Country Stadt in Australien, wo wir Lawn Ball (Mischung aus Boccia und Kegeln), eine typische Aussie Freizeitbeschäftigung, spielten. Abends hatten wir einen gemütlichen Abend im Gastgarten 😊. Ganz schön warm hier (36 Grad). 😜Read more

Lazy day today, went into town to watch buskers, a lot busier today great atmosphere, we decided ppl have come in for a long weekend. Had a nice brekky then walked around. 8 Ball Aitken was on at the Tudor so watched him. Back to motel had rest then off to see Beccy Cole at Wests, haven't laughed so hard in so long, she is hilarious 🤣 as well as a great singer. Watched Federer game what a win against Millman. Home by 2 was a 1oclock lock out so couldn't go anywhere else.Read more

After leaving Apsley Falls heading west towards Mt Kaputar.. we had to drop into Tamworth.. even if we were 2 weeks early for the Country Music Festival we've heard so much about it that it'd be rude not too.

Staying at the Best Western with Mary and Kylie room 1. Kelly and belle are in room 5. Off early to see Jug Band, Chicken train Skufflers and Crawfish Stew. Fun night last bus home 12.00 then sat up and ate cheese and crackers until the wee hours. This is Tamworth. No time to stop.Read more

The day after the Tamworth Music festival you would be hard pressed to find evidence of it having been. There must be a huge effort by the organizers to remove signs and barricades as soon as it is finished. A walk up Peel Street and you would never guess it was alive with thousands of people just one day before.Read more

Peel Street Tamworth.

Peel Street is where just about every hopeful starts out in Tamworth. Some of the buskers have been coming for more years than they remember. Some of them just don't remember. A walk down the street and a yarn to some of the artists can give a festival visitor some valuable insight into who one should see here at the festival.Read more

Lee Kernaghan

We headed out to TREC for two shows. The earlier one was Troy. After a wait of a bit over an hour we went back in for the Lee Kernaghan experience.

Lee is one of the country legends of our time. His act is firmly pitched to the boys and gals from the bush. Utes diesel and dust. Fast cars tractors and everything country. Great show well produced with heaps of audio, (perhaps a bit much) and visual to overdose on.

There was a brief appearance from his wife. A duet with his dad and a tribute to his grandparents. There were guests and some great country music.

Tania Kernaghan dropped in to help sing the Williamson great, "A Bushman Can't Survive". Lee played the piano. I was very surprised that Lee even knew which end of a piano made the noise. :)Read more
