We found a cheap property outside our original search area but near to some great hiking. Most of it was on a hill but the top views were good and we were able to enjoy lunch on the property.

Another property and hike Mena, AR

We hadn't been able to get a hold of the listing agent but thought we'd drive by the next property on our list in Mena, AR. After discovering how nice the surroundings were and realizing wilderness hiking trail was practically across the street, we tried once more and were given permission to check it out. There was a small pond and decaying buildings with 3 trashed mobile homes stuck in the ground. If the seller removed, it might be worth pursuing.Read more

Homestead with springs, creeks, ponds

We almost skipped this one as couldn't get appointment until later and thought it was just for ideas as listing photos were a mess. The gorgeous swimming hole was the only picture we captured during 2.5 hour tour. We really liked it but are uncertain about taking over all the responsibilities.Read more

Miles of gravel and we couldn't make it

We had another slow day waiting for appointment so had breakfast and charged up at the library and then enjoyed lunch at scenic rest area. We made it all the way down and up the gravel roads for the property and then we're unable to get under a fallen tree about 1/4 mile away. We parked and walked in and wondered a bit waiting for realtor who was walking with another client. We left knowing this wasn't the right place.Read more

We re-visited a favorite campsite from last year and the same giant logs were still there for a campfire! Beautiful area down by the river and clean porta potty. Total 80 miles and $3.89 for bananas.

After viewing 3 properties with realtor and ruling all out as not as nice as homestead, we stopped in Marshall for lunch. ResoNate practiced riding the unicycle around the pond while we recharged. We decided against seeing the other raw land properties in the area.Read more

Rainy Day in Mtn View

Anticipating the rain, we had a day blocked off and we were able to enjoy the ampitheter and a quick walk before it downpoured. The day pass at the health center was $10 and we needed to do laundry and charge, so we paid $28 for Court RV Park for the night and did 2 loads of laundry as well as watched movie and played a game in the clubhouse. We had a couple of well deserved days off of travel and property searching. It was great to be alone in the woods with campfires and slacklining and a chance to collect our thoughts. Back to Walmart Dardanelle

After realizing it was going to be dark by the time we arrived to proposed campsite and 10 miles out of the way, we decided to go back to town. The vegan pizza place was closed so we tried Lihn's Vietnamese. The tofu pho and deep fried noodles were both delicious and huge portions! We did a little shopping, not buying anything, and came back to this quiet Walmart to sleep. Total 116 miles and $177.81 for gas and groceries.Read more

Mount Nebo State Park

We had some time so decided to have breakfast and a hike a Mount Nebo State Park. It was gorgeous with 3 mile rim trail loop and as an added bonus, the bath house with hot showers was open! We even stayed for lunch before working our way back down the mountain.Read more

Waldron research

We were petty sure we wanted to get the permaculture farm, so to the country seat in Waldron for research. Sunshine picked up a water quality test kit but it was only for bacteria. Then to the clerks office to look up past deeds to find mineral rights owners and see the plats. ResoNate explored town on the unicycle but forgot to grab photos.Read more

White Oak Mountain campsite

We had a closer campsite mapped but it didn't have service for our Skooliepalooza meeting. Once we went up White Oak Mountain Rd, there was no turning around. We meet the realtors and family to go over a few other items on the property and then we explored on our own. They generously allowed us to stay and recharge the solar battery. In the am we walked to the swimming hole again and ensured we were in agreement on the offer before presenting to the family. They were excited to prepare us for this journey as their next step is moving onto a school bus and when they bought, they had moved from FL and the other family was moving to FL. Stange workings indeed. Total 24 miles.Read more

Russellville Pizza & Christmas Parade

We were so busy we had skipped lunch, so had a snack and drive to Russellville for the vegan pizza! Luckily we arrived early as it was the night of Christmas parade (largest in Arkansas) and the place was packed as we left. We enjoyed the parade and then back to the quiet Walmart in Dardanelle. AR Museum of Fine Arts & MacArthur Park

We used our NARM pass at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts. There were some great exhibits that we don't have any photos, so check out the website. We then had some fun in MacArthur Park. We had been set on shower and swim in the am, but the center we had in Little Rock still had their pool closed since last time through. We found this one in Lonoke that had a nice workout area and salt water pool with obstacle course and basketball hoop. Bonus, we were the only ones in the pool, a great deal for $5 each!Read more

Webb Lake overnight

The night before we noticed the front headlight was out, so stopped at O'Reilly's and replaced it. Then noticing the coolant was low... so much for the check that was supposedly performed with oil change yesterday! We stayed at the first campsite off the rest area road last year and it was nice enough. Today we had enough time to explore and found this gorgeous site about 3/4 miles back and it was a bit quieter. 54 miles and $76.10 for gas, headlight, and coolant. We had breakfast at the rest area so we could use the facilities.Read more
