Good little hotel based on an old oast house.
Did have a very let us say a bijou shower although the plumbing made sense which in the UK is memorable.

Rye is an very old, very interesting place on the Sussex coast.
We washed up here because we liked the hotel. George the First washed up here in 1727 on his way back from Germany.

Great little garden, although not that little at almost an acre.
Cafe with lady who firmly had “There are 4 types of coffe in the world” mindset.

There is a street in Rye full of 14th, 15th and modern 16th century homes.
It is pebble paved and comes up from the warehouses near the old Port . (Think canal at Pheasant St).

Greatest need in UK retail is for mirrors that show people what they actually look like. (Probably not a retailing success.)

Well it isn’t Bruges but Canterbury does have a River and it does have a river tour.
A very pleasant fellow called Pete rowed us up and down the Stour River.

Really enjoyed the place. The hotel we stayed in was built in the old city walls and directly opposite the old castle (old keep really, now fast falling down).
The touristy bits are all within the oldWeiterlesen
Built by the Romans in 297 as a Saxon Shore fort the place has been fortified for 1500 years.
The Roman walls are still there with the later castle and keep inside it.
