Unzen-Amakusa National Park

Mt Unzen and other volcanoes created the Shimabara Peninsula. Unzen village in the middle boasts dozens of onsen (hot springs). A path outside the village winds through the bubbling jigoku (“hells”, boiling mineral hot springs).
We hiked to Fungen Dake (1359m) for excellent views of the entire peninsula and Mt Unzen.Read more
