Colorful foliage and comfortable ryokan

To exit the caldera of Mt Aso-San, we avoided busy route 11 by riding on a “secret” road recommended by our host Fukutomi at Sanrinsha in Takamori town. There was no traffic except 2 local cyclists on their road bike.
We were also rewarded with beautiful Fall colors and arrived early at our ryokan in Tanoharu Onsen, which is next to Kurokawa Onsen. The 3 hot spring baths and the 10 different dishes for dinner were outstanding. Horse sashimi was part of the menu.Read more
