When will we see a metro line running at BER. maybe it's a dream.

I am experiencing new culture and take note not of the differences rather about highlights.

  • Sydney Christmas in summer with 30°C

    November 7, 2019 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 21 °C

Today was a perfect sunny day. Just enough windy to forget the burning sun.
I discovered around Oxford street the first Christmas decoration. A real fake Christmas tree.

I was brave and went through the typical tourists attractions:
    Manly beach
    Sydney opera house
    Harbour bridge
    The rocks

By the way, there is no Burger King brand here. It's named Hungry Jack. Who is Jack? I will find out

I finished the day with a comedy show. Pure Australian humour. Not to easy to understand but it seems that Australian people has humour. The show was at a queer location with Diverse artists. Surprise the show started with a statement , more an apology about violence made to arborigens in the past and discrimination to the queer community.
Australian is still busy to work out the country past.

After the check in at the hotel. I went to the river side for my first burger in Australia. Very tasty .
Followed by a river cruise on the free hop on ferry.
Lately not too tired I decided for a drag queen show. Unfortunately the show might start later waiting for people coming in. Too late for me I have a fully packed day tomorrow at Sufers Paradise....

  • Surfers Paradise is a town

    November 12, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Yes Surfers Paradise is a town. Beat place for surfing and for holiday. Along a 5 km beach named gold coast you will find plenty of hotels in high buildings of more than 50 floors. Difficult to believe it. You must see it. Australian are pretty proud about this local paradise.
It's just 1 hour bus ride from Brisbane and invite you to spend lazy days at the beach.
I had my lazy day and a short cruise

I regret not visiting Palm beach and Miami. Hihi

  • Swansea in Tasmania

    November 20, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

I am spending 5 days in Tasmania. Relaxing at the beach. There's not much to do when you don't have a car. Thus I am just relaxing.
I attended the village cricket game on Saturday. I still don't understand the rules but who cares.
Look at the picture below the cricket field is just along the cemetery and the runway for jumping sport ends at the cemetery. This is the reality of life.

Lucky me I did avoid to get track in bushfire.

  • Last day in Sydney

    November 26, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

3 weeks in Australia. For my final day in Sydney I had for the first time rain , more a bit of storm with strong wind. The smoke of the bushfires running in the region was present all day. I could smell it. Schools were closed outside of Sydney.
Finally i went to Chinatown . Very large square with lot of restaurants very cheap.
Ther are about 200 languages spoken in Australia from the indigenous. Many of them were forgotten and are now revived by local initiatives. In the past indigenous were forced to stop to speak their native languages for using only English. The native indigenous languages are flourishing again. This was disclosed in an exhibition. Great

Tomorrow I fly to new Zealand.

After the beach and the lake now mountains. I got to 2600m on the tongariro. Driving up the mountain I could see and feel temperature changing as well as the flora. In new Zealand you can almost at the same time surfing at the east coast and skiing on the tongariro.
I made also a walk for encountering Mordor the mountain as seen in the lord of the ring. Unfortunately it was too cloudy but I could get a tense of fear and almost heard frodo or Sam.?

  • Glowworms in Waitomo cave and Kiwi

    December 3, 2019 in New Zealand ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Kiwis are the name of the famous birds that cannot fly living only in NZ. They are very difficult to see since being nocturnal animal. Thus, I went to a special park for meeting them. I could see for the first time a kiwi bird in a space specially lighted with dark light. No picture . :-(
It was no surprise to hear that the kiwis are going missing due to much predators.

At the morning ,I visited the glowworms cave of Waitomo. Ther are about 20.000 glowworms lighting the upper part of the cave. The tour is made on a boat following the river crossing the cave.
For the first time i had bad weather. It was raining almost all day.

  • Auckland and Waiheke

    December 5, 2019 in New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

I had a full day for visiting Auckland. Few people warned me that Auckland is not a beautiful town.
This is partially true. The main street has no charm. After one hour walking around I took the ferry to Waiheke . About 40 min away. Just a paradise. With beaches and vineyards.
The wine should be very good there.
    The water is warm.
See pictures from Waiheke in my next post. I can only upload 6 pictures in each post
