  • Red Island Baked Potato

    September 8, 2018 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

This was our lunch plans. WAS. They basically serve big baked potatoes stuffed with all manner of things as options. We were talking about it all morning. When in (Cavendish) PEI, it seemed fitting to have a Cavendish Potato, right?

They apparently closed already for the season. We were bummed. Time to go look for Plan B.

  • Greco's Pizza

    September 8, 2018 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

As we looked for plan B, we were met with closed sign after closed sign. In the end we went to this pizza shop and had Donair since neither of us were really wanting pizza today.

Donair was ok. Nothing exciting, especially since our last donair (in Halifax) was the best donair I ever had. Forgot to take a photo of this one. It was a giant mess anyway because they didn't roll it well.Read more

  • Green Gables National Heritage Site

    September 8, 2018 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Anne of Green Gables by Lucie Maude Montgomery. If you don't already know about these books and subsequent TV show, I'd be shocked. I will assume everyone knows and leave it at this. You can Google it if you need to! I had quite a few photos and it was too hard to narrow it down to just 6, so I will split it into multiple posts. A couple posts for the house, probably one for the trail, and this post, which is of random extra photos on the property (including Lucy's typewriter) and an additional photo of the outside of house that didn't fit in the other posts.Read more

  • Wind and Reef Seafood Restaurant

    September 8, 2018 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

We had dinner in the North Point also. We had a nice table along the window and photo #2 is the view from the table. Matt had the shrimp and I had the steak with bacon wrapped scallops. Both our meals came with a baked potato. Guess this makes up for the lack of baked potato we had planned for lunch!
Last 2 photos were taken outside the restaurant after we ate.

  • St. Simon and St. Jude Parish

    September 9, 2018 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

When we went to our accommodations for the night last night, our GPS took us to this church. We were a bit confused at first. We joked that our room was probably in the bell tower and we'd have to lug our stuff up an endless amount of stairs.

Anyway, turns out our Bed and Breakfast was the building behind the church. More on that later.

Also included in this set of photos is a model on the church found in the garden outside, and the Pastoral house on the property. The last photo is the view of the church from our accommodations.

  • Tignish Heritage Inn and Gardens

    September 9, 2018 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

If you read my previous post, you'll remember me saying our accommodations were behind the church. The reason for this is that in the mid 1860s when this place was built, it was a convent for the nuns.

The building is super cool and the gardens were very nice. The garden even had tables in various spots with games like chess, snakes and ladders and battleship.

The only downside is we noticed there had been a water leak in the ceiling at some point in our room and it was looking like it got moldy. It looked like the grout in the shower was getting moldy spots too. Since we settled in already and knew we were checking out early the next morning, we didn't ask to change rooms. If we were staying longer we likely would have tried to switch rooms.

Breakfast was continental. An assortment of cereal, toast and jam, yogurt, fruit, muffins etc. The carrot raison muffin I ate was really good.

Time to hit the road... Last day on PEI today as we work our way towards New Brunswick.

  • Can you tell me how to get...?

    September 9, 2018 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

    "Sunny day
    Sweeping the clouds away
On my way to where the air is sweet
Can you tell me how to get
How to get to sesame street?

    Come and play everything's a-okay
Friendly neighbors yes that's where we meet
Can you tell me how to get how to get to sesame street?"

Apparently you get to Sesame Street by visiting Miminegash, PEI. Question answered. Now kids can finally stop asking.
