  • Canada Gate

    27 april 2018, Engeland ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

An entrance to Green Park, the gate was presented to London by Canada as part of a vast memorial dedicated to Queen Victoria, who died in 1901.

The Coat of Arms for BC, SK and AB were not on the gate, so they were later added to the pillars.Meer informatie

  • Canada Memorial

    27 april 2018, Engeland ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

Erected in 1992 to commemorate members of the Canadian Forces killed during the First and Second World Wars. Pictures don't do it justice. The maple leaves carved into the fountain are really lovely.

  • The Mall

    27 april 2018, Engeland ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

The Mall is not a place for shopping. It's a road leading to/from Buckingham Palace. Here are a few photos from our walk down the street.

Queen Mother and King George Memorial
    Duke of York Column
    Graspan Memorial
    Admirality Arch

  • Trafalgar Square

    27 april 2018, Engeland ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

This square commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar, a British naval victory in the Napoleonic Wars with France and Spain that took place on 21 October 1805 off the coast of Cape Trafalgar, Spain.

Seems there is an event here tomorrow and they are settong up so we couldn't really get right in the square unfortunately.Meer informatie

  • Gordon's Wine Bar

    27 april 2018, Engeland ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Believed to be the oldest Wine Bar in London, Gordon's Wine Bar was established in 1890.

Great food, awesome wine and delicious cheese. Potions of wine and cheese were very generous!

This place is underground in brick tunnels lit by candlelight and you could feel the rumble of the underground trains go by near the bar. It was cozy, unique and we all really loved this place.

Because it was fairly dark, it was too hard to get a decent photo of the inside that would do it justice.

If you go to London, do come here if you enjoy wine and cheese.

Also, there are a couple photos from the garden next to the bar.

  • Wallace Collection

    27 april 2018, Engeland ⋅ 🌧 11 °C

The Wallace Collection is a museum which displays the works of art collected in the 18th and 19th centuries by five generations of a British aristocratic family - the first four Marquesses of Hertford and Sir Richard Wallace, the illegitimate son of the 4th Marquess.

I was mostly fascinated by the chandeliers on this place. Lol

  • Poppie's Fish and Chips

    27 april 2018, Engeland ⋅ 🌧 10 °C

Supposed to be one of the best fish and chips in London.. and I will say that it was pretty darn good! The piece of fish was enormous. I couldn't even finish it.

Our server was interesting. He wore jean overalls, a blue and pink wig and bunny ears and barely spoke English. He was friendly enough though.. He managed to tell us his best friend moved to Calgary.

He gave us "fruit salad" for dessert.

  • Picadilly Circus

    27 april 2018, Engeland ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

No clowns, elephants or lions here… the brits' use of the word circus in this situation comes from the latin word "circle" and refers to a round open space at a street junction. There are many circuses in London, but this one is well known for it's large video displays and neon signs. Some say it's London's equivalent to Times Square in New York.Meer informatie

  • Meet Dick.

    28 april 2018, Engeland ⋅ ⛅ 8 °C

This bus driver was a dick, and I don't mean his name was Richard.

Left us standing outside in the rain while he played with his cell phone for 10 mins. I get that bus isn't set to leave for 10 more mins, but could we not sit inside the bus? He let us in right at the pull away time and not a moment sooner.Meer informatie

  • British Museum

    28 april 2018, Engeland ⋅ ☁️ 8 °C

Another museum.. We saw the Rosetta Stone and a lot of other really neat things. And lots and lots of old pottery. Lots. I might be getting a bit museum'd out this week. Or at least my tired feet are.

We also saw a smaller version of Rodin's Thinking Man. It took me back to a previous trip... where Matt and I went to the Rodin Museum in Paris with our other friend Tammie and her daughter Sierra. We saw the full size version there. We quite enjoyed that museum.

  • Solvellir

    29 april 2018, IJsland ⋅ 🌧 6 °C

We have safely reached our cabin in Iceland. What a change of pace from London! We hear nothing but the sound of light rain and a few birds.

    This cabin is super cute!
