    Shingwedzi to Mopani

    November 11, 2023 in South Africa ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

When we left Shingwedzi Camp, we spotted a Verreaux's Eagle Owl and its nest. They are around 62 cm tall with black eyes and pink eyelids. We also saw a vulture, likely a White-Backed Vulture, which is very common in Kruger Park.

On the way to Mopani, we took the 144 to 143. Along this road, there was a vast open grassland area where we spotted a large herd of wildebeest and had our first sighting of Lichtenstein's Hartebeest. Additionally, there was a group of male and female ostriches. A few minutes later, we encountered a giant male lion and his family, with the cubs being especially cute.

Upon reaching Mopani camp, we reunited with our old friends (not the birders, although they were also present), but this time it was the big group of elephants having their morning bath at the lake.
