    We dropped our bags at the Hotel and off we went for the Hop on Hop off bus to get oriented. First stop - Parc Guell. Gaudi's wonderland! So many whimsical shapes and sculptures and beautiful views of Barcelona.Read more

    La Sagrada Familia, Gaudi, Bullring

    Today was a day of exploring Barcelona more. We visited Gaudi's Casa Mila and la Sagrada Familia and basked in the beauty. However, those darned Catholics wouldn't let Dawn's bare arms in so she had to buy a tshirt. The bull seemed appropriate for that!

    Abadia de Montserrat

    We signed up for a winery tour through viator and our tour guide was so amazing. It was the first tour he had done since the start of the pandemic and he teared up several times during the day because he was so happy to be working again. He kept apologizing for his English since he hadn't used it in so long.
    The bus took us from Barcelona up to the Abbey... and then we boarded this train that was terrifying. lol Up the steep hill to the abbey with sheer drop offs to look down on!
    The abbey is stunning, tucked into the mountain and as with most churches is just beautiful. There was also a little farmers market along the cloister so we were able to get some cheeses!
    After the abbey we went to a couple of lovely wineries. The views with the mountains in the back reminded us both of Las Cruces.    Read more

    Toledo

    We took the train to Toledo for the day to visit the beautiful walled city. Tiny roads, twisty stairs, a beautiful museum with some great sculptures and views for miles...
