    Granville Island

    September 3, 2022 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 61 °F

Our first full day meant a trip to Granville Island. It's a combination of farmers market and cutesy touristy area. Since we are in a condo, we bought some charcuterie and things to have for in meals.
Bill had to get the donuts and didn't even mind waiting in line!

  • Stanley Park... In the Rain

    September 4, 2022 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 63 °F

We had made plans to go to Stanley Park on this day and were too stubborn to change the plans when the weather didn't look great. It started off ok, but the rain came in. Dawn realized that her "wind breaker" is not water proof and wound up soaked down to the unmentionables!

    It was still fun though!

  • Stanley Park Brewing

    September 4, 2022 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 63 °F

A great way to get Bill to agree to some outdoorsy stuff is a brewery at the end.

We were not the only soaked bikers in the brewery that day. Gave us a little chance to dry out and for the rain to ease.Read more

  • Gastown Ghost Tour

    September 4, 2022 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 63 °F

We did an excellent tour in Gastown tonight - learning the history of Vancouver, the gold rush, the great fire (every city had one), and, of course, ghosts and ladies of the night. Our guide was awesome.Read more

  • Beach walk and exploring

    September 5, 2022 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 68 °F

We decided to walk back toward our area from Kitsilano Beach and discovered so many pretty places along the way. We may have gotten a little lost too, but that's ok. The views were stunning and the weather perfect.

Our uber back later was a zero-emission vehicle and they were very proud of it.

  • Brewery Hopping over several days

    September 5, 2022 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

Over many days we found several great - and some not so great - breweries!

--33 Brewing Experiment - very snotty, hipsters
--Main Street Brewing - perfect welcoming place, that also had Sausage Land for some fun hot dogs
--Steam Works Brew Pub - nice but too much of a restaurant versus a brewery
    --Brassneck
    and our favorite
--Storm Brewing, with a nice note on the wall that says "Sketchy but great beer"

  • Wok Around Chinatown

    September 7, 2022 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 72 °F

We did a Wok Around Chinatown tour with Robert Sung Tours. Bob was great - so excited and so passionate about Vancouver and Chinatown. We explored the Chinese Garden and cultural center and then visited markets, a tea shop, a medicine shop, and had dim sum for lunch. Educational, fun and tasty day.
Funny side note... there was a Disney cruise in town... however not the Disney I would think about. This ship was filled with adult Disney fanatics. And they made up the rest of our tour. Hilarious to listen to them talking about the cruise and their Disney swag.

  • Cruise Terminal area

    September 7, 2022 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 72 °F

We walked north to explore around the cruise terminal. Watched the planes land and take off for a long time. The giant water drop sculpture is amazing, as were some of the other art pieces around the area.Read more

  • Sashimiya Sushi

    September 8, 2022 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 72 °F

Bill found this place on Eater and we picked it up after a long day.... and then a couple of days later did it again. It was amazing sushi!

  • Farewell - Intimately

    September 9, 2022 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

On our way home, Dawn got SSSS on her boarding pass. Bill sailed through TSA precheck, but Dawn learned that Secondary Security Screening Selection is NOT fun. Both hands and feet swabbed, all electronics had to be turned on to show they were operational (and my laptop battery was near dead as a challenge), intimate pat down, even my pony tail had to be taken down so they could explore my head! Not a fun way to end a vacation.

The views from the plane as we left were stunning though.
