    The real charm of a place is never found in the most tourist-packed spots. It’s in the side streets, the quiet alleys, the places where life moves at its own pace.

    Wandering through these hidden corners, the contrast was striking. Just a few steps away from the polished, tiled perfection of Senado Square, the city’s history starts to show itself in layers. The buildings aren’t freshly painted pastels anymore—they’re weathered, textured, full of character. Some have elaborate iron window grilles that seem like they’ve been there for generations. Others have red banners with gold Chinese calligraphy, probably left over from Lunar New Year celebrations.
