  • Komodo national park

    January 13, 2016 in Indonesia ⋅ ⛅ 34 °C

Wow! Just wow. We have ticked off some serious bucket list stuff on this trip. Swimming with sharks, turtles and even manta rays gliding only a foot above our heads. A real highlight of our trip.

  • Malapascua

    January 26, 2016 on the Philippines ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

After bad weather warned that all ferries might be cancelled we took our chances! A drive to Tagbileran Port in Bohol, followed by a cancelled ferry and then a delayed ferry to Cebu we were met by our driver Wilson! Wilson then drove us for 3 hours to Maya port. Then we took a very small motor boat to a slightly bigger motor boat! Battled 2 meter waves for the best part of 45 mins. We got soaked, our bags got soaked! Then we took another small motor boat to the island of Malapascua!! It feels like a massive achievement that we have made it here and all to dive with Thresher sharks for 2 days before we make the return journey! Are we crazy? Almost certainly!!

Ps. Forgot to mention the "popping mosquitos". Having squished them using the one-hand-swat ninja technique, the exploded fresh blood onto us...and not our own! 😝

  • Boracay

    January 30, 2016 on the Philippines ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Enjoying the views over the private beach at our hotel. Our hotel was called Fairways and Bluewater and was ENORMOUS! It's set around a golf course with the rooms in villas. Our apartment must have been 800sqft! You have to laugh when their slogan is "the place to stay, swim and swing"...im not so sure they understood why we found it so funny!Read more

  • Boracay to Caticlan

    February 2, 2016 on the Philippines ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

  • Dimkaya Island, Club Paradise

    February 3, 2016 on the Philippines ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

First stop in Palawan was to Club Paradise. A tiny island resort 45 mins away from Coron. The island itself was picture postcard perfect. We originally came here to dive on Apo Reef, however their boat was broken so we were left majorly disaappointed. However, we snorkelled and still managed to see sharks, turtles, squid, stingrays and when the sky was a little grey, we went on a hike to Eagle Point! The island was a hotspot for some amazing wildlife including some interesting birds, some rather large monitor lizards and also a family of fruitbats who had taken up residence on a tree near the pool. Every day at 6pm they woke up and flew off to find food only to arrive the next day.Read more

  • Busuanga Bay Lodge

    February 6, 2016 on the Philippines ⋅ ⛅ 4 °C

The last stop on our tour of SE Asia was to Busuanga on the other side of Coron. Busuanga is famous for being the home to lots of japanese wrecks...great for diving! I was a little nervous, esepcially as they at the limit of how deep we are allowed to dive (30m) and because the visibilty wasnt very good (only 5m). However, we dived inside the Akikawa and the Okitsushima. Swimming around these wrecks was fascinating although hard work as the current was strong. Going inside these wrecks was just amazing. To see all the coral that has formed and all the fish that have made these wrecks their home was incredible. Less incredible was when my torch decided to pack in whilst entering the propeller tunnel!Read more
