    4 Mei 2016, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☀️ 61 °F

On the Oregon and Mormon Trails. The road crossed the trails right here. The migrants were able to dig up ice here well into the summer months on there way across the country.

  • Cheyenne Wyoming

    6 Mei 2016, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☀️ 57 °F

Cheyenne seems to have been a crossroads for some of the most notorious and entertaining Western history with many famous people making appearances, such as Bat Masterson, Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane and many others. But there's not much of it left to see. Just passing through here. Leaving Wyoming today.Baca lagi

  • Our Ladybug

    6 Mei 2016, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

We found our ladybug sitting on a blade of grass in a park outside Ft. Collins where we stopped for lunch. As we are having trouble deciding where to go, we put her down on the pavement to see which direction she would go. At first she headed for Estes Park, but then she curved around in a tight little circle. She CONTINUED to do the same tight little circle til we took pity on her and placed her gently back on her blade of grass.

Gordon said, "Great. She's telling us we're supposed to be right here!" I said, "No, she's telling us it's just FINE to go in circles ... wherever we are at any given moment is exactly right."

So I guess we're both right ... AS USUAL!

  • Estes Park KOA

    6 Mei 2016, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ⛅ 63 °F

This campground only opened May 1, and we are so happy to have made it here. It is absolutely gorgeous. We're just a couple of miles from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. There's not a single place in this town that doesn't have a great view. Lots of shops, restaurants, and other things to occupy us when we are not lazing. Happy campers!Baca lagi

  • Rockcut Brewing Company

    6 Mei 2016, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ⛅ 61 °F

First order of business, replenish the kitty litter, ibuprofen (foot still misbehaving), and beer. Grocery stores in Colorado cannot carry full-strength beer ... maximum 3% alcohol ... so we went in search of a brewery. The Rockcut Brewery has only been in business here for 8 months, but wowza, wonderful beers! But DANG ... they don't bottle it. We can take a 2-pint growler, but by the time we finished sampling so we would know what to fill the growler WITH, we were too in our cups to even think of taking a growler which would need to be drunk tonight. We have a date with a couple of National Park employees to show up there again tomorrow at happy hour.

    Happy campers.

  • Rocky Mountain National Park

    7 Mei 2016, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☁️ 41 °F

After breakfast at the Notchtop Cafe, we headed into the park to see what we could see. We were thrilled at the herd of elk near the entrance, until Gordon noticed one of them had a BELL around his neck. However, the park itself is gorgeous. What we could see.

The ceiling was low, and got lower and lower. When we got to about 10,000 feet we started getting sleet. But the eeriest thing was how DARK it got. It felt like 8:00 at night, and it was around 1:00.

  • Bear Lake 9442 feet

    7 Mei 2016, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ 🌧 36 °F

By the time we got here, we had snow mixed with rain. The low clouds and bare tree shapes against the mist created a mood which we enjoyed. However, we decided to cut our trip short and return to town.

It was a good decision. Within 10 minutes of getting settled back in the trailer, it was raining, hailing, sleeting, and THUNDERING like there would be no tomorrow!

  • Cozy in the geezer-mobile

    7 Mei 2016, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ 🌧 37 °F

As the weather raged outside, we felt cozy and warm inside. You can see we've added a few touches such as colored lights, a scarf over the LED, and even a little plant. And don't forget hot tea and snacks. Very important when weathering ill weather.

By 6:30, the clouds began to clear and we could see new snow on the mountains around town.

  • Things are closer than they appear

    10 Mei 2016, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

It's late afternoon, dry and dusty. I'd been workin' hard and lookin' forward to playin' hard.

The town of Dodge City laid before me like a bright red apple on a tree, ready for picking. So I headed on down the main drag into town, my eye firmly on the watering holes along the small main street. That main drag, while small, what a place. Lots of saloons, barbershops, drug store & doctors, and even a place call a tonsulorium, whatever that is. The city must love to have the cowpokes come into town, 'cause that dang road, it was one way, straight into town. I guess they don't want those cowboys ta have no fights on the road, causing em to slow down or keep em from reachin' town.

So there I was headed down that one way road, when the sheriff showed up right in front of me. Looking me right in the eyes. Was that Bat Masterson? or Wyatt Earp? Face to face with the baddest lawman in Dodge City. Mano a mano with legend! Dang! Quick as could be, I moved into the next street, figuring that a little sidestepping was better than spending the night in jail. But it turning that corner just made the problem worse. The sheriff followed me.

Here I was, minding my own business, trying to give the good merchants of Dodge City my coins. And why would the marshal want to keep that from happening? Had he heard of my exploits from the last three weeks, from Montana (where I went 80 mph)?, from Wyoming (where I stopped on a bridge to take a picture)? Well, if the good marshal wanted to go man to man with me, then so be it.

Well, having turned the corner and the marshal after me, I noticed that another citizen was in my face as well. What is it about this town? Why can't a good cowpoke just enjoy a nice quiet evening in town, handing over his hard earned currency to the entrepreneurs of the town?

The moment of truth had arrived! I pulled over into the bank pull through exit and stopped. The marshal pulled in behind me with lights flashing. The flashing lights were nothing to the flashing anger and hate in his eyes. At that moment I know, this would be the day when history would be made. The last shoot out in Dodge City!

The marshal got out of his car. I knew that tradition held that I should stay in my car until the end. He approached. I knew, as a saint knows, the perfect moment to make my move...

"Officer, I am so confused. There was a one way street and then suddenly I was facing you. And then turned the corner and I was facing your posse."

The marshal drawled, "Well, there was a one way street, but it turned two way. And everything downtown is two way. You better watch yourself pardner. The roads may be confusin', but that ain't no excuse for cruising through town on the wrong side of the street."

Thus ends the saga of Gordon the Kid.
