  • Hvar Divlja Vela to Korcula Kanal

    August 27, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

So with the plan of a 12 hour day and needing to get to Ston, we left at 6am. 6 hours later and motoring directly into the wind and swell we detoured to Korcula kanal and dropped anchor. It is what it is and we will try again tomorrow. Again different to the weather forecast 🤣. A pretty bay and that is appreciated. We are directly across from the monastery.Read more

  • Korcula Kanal to Ston Uvala Przina

    August 28, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Continuing to make our way to Dubrovnik. Over 6 hours and a decision to moor in a new bay and what an amazing find. Reminds me of the Croatia that attracted me not the busy over subscribed holiday destination. A lovely walk - very slowly to plant feet on land. I find that just visiting a bay is not the same as seeing it from shore and discovering the surrounding area. Only complaint or great feature is no signal 😊👏Read more

  • Sipan Otok Jaklan to Kolocep

    August 30, 2021 in Croatia ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Today is an early morning rise and sail to get to Kolocep- the island on Croatia that captured our hearts and set this whole life journey in motion. We will remain here in the Dubrovnik region until we depart for Greece on Thursday.Read more

  • Dubrovnik to Corfu

    September 2, 2021 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Quick rush back to the boat after pcr test which is only valid for 48 hours and exiting Croatia took over an hour. So off we went and sailed the wild seas to Corfu. Good sailing if unpleasant swell until the wind disappeared. Fortunately our trip took 45 hours so the test was still valid. Entry into Greece took three hours (paperwork paperwork in triplicate) but loved being amongst friendly Greek people after the not so friendly Croats. My heart feels very happy to be here.Read more

  • Platarias to Iggy Bay

    September 6, 2021 in Greece ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

A decision to head backup north to Iggy bay to leave GypsyDjango overnight on the town quay and hire a car and hike the Meteora monasteries. This was the first time in 15 months we will not sleep on GypsyDjango. The nice thing is the town quay is not manned, offers no services so is free.Read more

  • Syvota to Parga Ormos Valtou

    September 9, 2021 in Greece ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Our discovery of the wonderful Ionians continues. We are really enjoying our experience this year compared to the Medicane we survived a year ago on Lefkada. Parga is magical and we don’t often get to town or eat out. We found a really cheap sea front restaurant serving pita slouvaka. A stunning walk around town was enough to feed the need to people 👏. We are loving the quaint seaside feel of Greece.Read more

  • Paxoi To Antipaxos Roda

    September 11, 2021 in Greece ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

We have been fortunate to have seen many bays on our journey for the past 15 months but Roda remains the top of all. It shows the Ionians off as tops. This bay is not typically where people Moore preferring the soft sands on the east side of the island, it is we prefer as there are fewer boats and no overnight. To be chosen in good weather as there will be no shelter in this exposed bay, it is spectacular.Read more

  • Roda to Lefkada Standing Stones Beach

    September 12, 2021 in Greece ⋅ 🌧 23 °C

A long day out. Heading from Antipaxos to Lefkada and avoiding the narrow canal with a swivel pontoon at certain hours only allowing access, we took the long way around and headed straight to the south of the island. 10h15 later we arrived and finally dropped anchor in a little bay called standing stones beach. This will be a quick stop with no land exploration as today we sail to Menganisi an island off Lefkada and known for having lack of tourism- yippee here come the South Africans on the American boat 😉Read more

  • Lefkada standing stones to Ithaca Vathy

    September 14, 2021 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Today we traveled to Ithaca Island and met Pete and Mel who invited us for coffee as it was his birthday. Had a terrible night in the bay with 25 knot katabatic winds which are prevalent in this area. Discovered the most magical town - Vathy. Helped Pete out with collecting his new outboard motor and were rewarded with some chili paste from Peru. Good holding in bay but unfortunately deep and 0 wind protection.Read more

  • Meganisi to Lefkada Town quay

    September 17, 2021 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

After a 30k run which took us to the end of the island we decided not to head around to the other side of the island to explore the main town needed for our trip but remained in the same bay which was quite a treat. The run was very beautiful and pretty hot. Good way to explore. Would be better by bike 🤣😉. The water to Lefkada was very still and calm. A perfect motor morning unfortunately- 0 wind.Read more

  • Lefkada to Ceph Fiscardo

    September 18, 2021 in Greece ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Back down south we go to Cephalonia and a bay called Fiscardo. Pretty enough fishing town. Anchoring with lines ashore. 6 hour engine with uncooperative winds. Big day tomorrow to get south but looking forward to seeing Myrtos beach again which was destroyed a year ago by the Medicane. Today a year ago was our experience on Lefkada.Read more

  • Fiscardo to Myrtos to Petania

    September 19, 2021 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

After a delicious night staying in Fiscardo bay and the picturesque town, we left the east coast and headed to the west coast. In the Ionians the west coast is a lot more barren, with less shelter and fewer bays with protection. So in good weather we sail west. This is also the more spectacular side and the bays truly promote the white sandstone cliffs and turquoise waters. After a stop at Myrtos we traveled to Petania bay for the night.Read more

  • Petania to Megas Lakkos to Vardiani

    September 20, 2021 in Greece ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Happy birthday Vicky. After a short run up the cliff we sadly left our perfect bay on the west coast of Cephalonia and headed to Turtle beach which turned out to have no turtles but the opportunity for a natural mud Bath with the tourists due to the soft grey sand cliffs. Then we crossed the bay to drop anchor on Vardiani to watch a spectacular sunset.Read more

  • Vardiani to Skala

    September 21, 2021 in Greece ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

After a surreal calm non sail and a quick swim on the way, we arrived in the most unbelievable clear turquoise water as far as the eye can see. Mother Nature dictates that we abandon Zakinthos and ship wreck beach and spend two days in this bay. A bit of swell but fairly protected as we wait out the 30 knot winds. Sadly we were not able to get to Zak “shipwreck beach” . Mooring at Skala the only protection from the expected 35k gusts forecast for this evening. Unbelievable water in this bayRead more
