  • Isola di Lisca Bianca

    21 septembre 2024, Italie ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

Melito di Porto Salvo to Isola di Lisca Bianca. 13h35. A big day out through the nightmare that the Messina delivered. Within 100 meters, we went from a speed of 8 knots to 2 knots while trying to cross a traffic separation zone with 200-meter tankers and cruise ships, all while avoiding high-speed cockroach ferries. At least the sword fishermen were not out to play in the unfolding drama. Tonight, we are alone between two volcanic outcrops, with the seabed bubbling up sulfur all around us. Tomorrow we go snorkeling 🤿En savoir plus

  • Isola Di Panarea Cala Junco

    22 septembre 2024, Italie ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

Isola di Lisca Bianca to Isola Di Panarea Cala Junco . Absolutely excellent spot. Sadly chased away by the over zealous Italians saying anchor prohibited 🚭 even if there is no single publication anywhere about this. But we had the opportunity to take exceptional drone footage and to snorkel in a tunnel and for me to shred my stomach sliding down a cliff face. A quick move to escape the Italian coastguard around the corner to the next bay and then what the heck - let's not stay and rather cross overnight to Sicily mainland.En savoir plus

  • Palermo Aranella bay

    23 septembre 2024, Italie ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

Isola Di Panarea Cala del Morto to Palermo Aranella bay. On the 19th of August a 55m yacht named Bayesian sank off the coast of Sicily. It made the news because of a freak storm and the fact that a billionaire died in it that night. Despite the 40 knot katabatic winds we ourselves enjoyed off that same coastline earlier this year, we decided to head for that same anchorage. Fortunately no storms were on the radar. Anchor in 8m sand and easy access to shore for date night and time to discover Palermo town and eat Sicilian Pizza and enjoy my favourite drink aside from tequila - Aperol Spritz,🍸En savoir plus

  • Porto Giunco

    26–29 sept. 2024, Italie ⋅ 🌙 23 °C

Sicily Mondello to Sardegna Porto Giunco. We expected a little thunderstorm but we're treated to a 30 knot squall and a downpour. Seeing the ominous clouds ahead and above prepared us so fortunately we put in a reef on both the head and main sail. When the wind died suddenly and turned it was an additional heads-up something major was about to hit. Turning on both engines and 2000 revs helped us manage the situation of being turned as the wind climbed to 30 knots from beam on port to beam on starboard in 30 seconds. Otherwise the trip was pretty uneventful and mostly by sail. Hello Sardegna - Menorca we are on our way. This bay is really beautiful and good holding in 4.5m as it is a reserve - not irritating jet skis buzzing around us. Bonus 🤗En savoir plus

  • Menorca Cala Teulera

    1 octobre 2024, Espagne ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Sardegna Porto Giunco to Spain Menorca Cala Teulera. 55 hours. Shewee. The trip started out with a strong wind, a reef and a rollercoaster. Good sailing for 10 hours. Followed by some engine and then light wind sailing in calm conditions the rest of the way. Almost 0 other boats between Sardegna south and Menorca. We are at our second home 🏠 time to start that winter maintenance!!!En savoir plus

  • Caló Blanco

    4 octobre 2024, Espagne ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Cala Teulera to Caló Blanco. After the nightmare in Cala Teulera and being given permission to anchor in the traffic lane for safety purposes, we however had to leave by 7am and so we sailed to a beautiful bay bright and early with 8m depth and turquoise waters with a mooring position below the final approach of the Mahón airport. Hidden rocks in the Poseidon.En savoir plus

  • Es Grau Punta Frau Bernat

    10 octobre 2024, Espagne ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Cala Teulera to Es Gray Punta Frau Bernat. Making the most of the day after my birthday as the 9th was spent anxiously watching the very strong southerly with waves in our bay until early into the morning of the 10th. A run followed by lunch in a delightful Es Castel Cove. Grabbing the opportunity in the afternoon to head to Es Gray, a location we always enjoy.En savoir plus

  • Pregonda

    12 octobre 2024, Espagne ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Illa den Colom to Pregonda. My favourite bay on Menorca. 5m exceptional sand holding and good swell protection. And access to the Cami. Not too busy and not many boats can anchor here so bonus!! Awesome run in the morning before heading to Barcelona ✨En savoir plus

  • Arenys de Mar

    15 octobre 2024, Espagne ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Menorca Pregonda to Arenys de Mar. As our summer season and this FindPenguins 2024 Trip is ending it seems fitting to pop a visit into Catalunya and spend a week in Arenys de Mar to do some mountain biking with our good Spanish friends Sergio and Razz. It's strange to be back in city life. A lot of boat traffic across and good sailing ⛵En savoir plus

  • Cala Turqueta

    23 octobre 2024, Espagne ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Cala Santandria to Cala Turqueta. It's been 4 years since we have been able (timing and wind) to be able to return to this bay. So good to connect with Alan from Amigos and join him for a pisco sour onboard. Shew but what's up with all of these flies? Anchor in 6m, did slide across some rocks and lost our position slightly. Barely any signal.En savoir plus

  • Cala Algaiarens

    25 octobre 2024, Espagne ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

Cala Turqueta to Cala Algaiarens. Beautiful bay. Wild natural and well protected from everything except the north. Very little swell. Easy trip by bike to ciutadella. A wonderful hike and a good run. 4 days in this bay. Tried to rescue a manta ray caught by a fishing hook dragging plastic. The cliffs are an amazing rich red colour.

Anchor in 3m good sand with good swing room

  • Arenal d'en Castel

    30 octobre 2024, Espagne ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Cala Algaiarens to Arenal d'en Castel. Time to move on. Our last bay for the year. Scheduled and paid to go to Mahón on the 1st but strong south east winds preventing the journey. And even though we were supposed to go in on the 1st we decided to stay till the 5th of November. A good bay to hide from the tail of the Dana and forecast 150mm of rain that hit us at midnight a good place to rescue a baby hedgehog on my ride.En savoir plus
