    11 hours and an early morning. I don't remember this bay. Kevin does. Too many anchorages maybe. The promised wind did not sadly materialize. Now we bunker down till favourable winds to sail NE to what I call cowards bay - Andratx - often the only sheltered on Sardegna when the wind blows around the entire island.Meer informatie

    Capo Ferrato South

    Tuerredda Ovest to Capo Ferrato South What was meant to be a night sail to coward bay (Arbatax) ended up being a day sail and night anchorage. Strong winds (good top speed 9.2) while running- GypsyDjango just doesn't hold her line when running and with the continuous gybing of the headsail, a decision was made based on the weather and new plans for a 6am start the next morning 🌅.     Capo Coda Cavallo

    San Gemiliano Ovest to Capo Coda Cavallo. Another great sail. Further north and we are now at Olbia. Strange to anchor at midnight and be in the pitch black of night and be comfortable with dropping in 18 knot winds and be ok as we are the ONLY boat around. A trip with 0 passing traffic and 0 boats around in the anchorages. Now to ride out the strong winds coming while we appreciate the scenery of this region and Tavollara across the bay.Meer informatie

    Porto Pevero

    Molo Brin - Banchine Pubbliche to Porto Pevero. Sadly we have left the public dock and are heading North with a very strong headwind out of Olbia into 28 knot gusts. It was all fun and games on GypsyDjango until it wasn't and then the conditions were just not great. Good riding in the area.

    Well Sardegna certainly offers crazy sailing conditions.

    Porto Pevero

    Cala Garibaldi to Porto Pevero. Sadly it is time to leave the amazing Caprera after a beautiful ride.and all it's history. I can't wait to write about it and our exploring. Back to Porto Pevero. A very special visit by a local who swam to GypsyDjango to bring us Sardegnan tangerines and a tuna salad ☺️ and a quick cup of coffee onboard ✨🔱💛

    Capo Cabo Cavallo

    Molo Brin - Banchine Pubbliche to Capo Cabo Cavallo. How sad to leave after much enjoyed civilization especially when the mooring is safe and free (and has a view of the big wheel ✨). A brief stop here in strong winds (wish I could say for a change) till we leave at 5am in the morning to Sicily in more favourable winds.

    Sicily Lido Burrone

    Sardegna Capo Coda Cavallo to Sicily Lido Burrone . 50 hours later 🤣 . An average of 4.3 and mostly engine and unpleasant swell. A few stowaways joined us on the trip but by the time the come onboard they are exhausted and don't survive the night. A quick anchor at 7am to decide the view and promised Navily pictures are not accurate.a decision to eat breakfast and take advantage of the light wind to begin our journey of sailing north around the island to get to the Messina in order to cross to the IONIANS.

    Sicily Lido Burrone to Cornino. Another 6 hours on top of the 50 on the crossing from Sardegna. All engine and unfavourable current. Average 3.9 🤣. Exhausted but knowing what's coming and needeing to get shelter thus this is the right decision. Another bay that is not particularly pretty. Catabatic winds off these mountains.

    Isolla Delle Femine Sur

    Cornino to Isolla Delle Femine Sur . Wow another early morning, more difficult swelly and another slow engine day. Average 3.9 for 8h31. Wind forecast no wind but catabatic winds of over 40 knots throughout the night. The worst conditions experienced aside from the Medicine. No sleep and trepidation for the conditions in the morning continuing with an overnight heading east to the Messina. Exhausted and not enjoying this. I do not like Sicily.

    Messina Galico

    Isolla Delle Femine Sur to Messina Galico. On the move. A choice to continue sailing the top of Sicily to the Messina strait as the winds will allow us to enter the Correnti Dello Stretto in favourable and most importantly, safe currents. A quick stop for food in a bay on the Italian side with access to Lidl. Kevin remained onboard to watch GypsyDjango in the strong winds. But most importantly - a new record max speed!!!

    Sicily Taormina N

    Reggio Messina Galico to Sicily Taormina N. It looks close but isn't. 5 hours of exceptionally strong winds crossing the Messina back to Sicily side. After our drop and shop, fortunately I did not fall in this time off the front of the dinghy, we anchored in a good spot with access to the beautiful Old Town of Taormina and 8k later we had walked and seen all the tourist spits we could. The first time Kevin had been happy to leave GypsyDjango safely anchored since we left Sardegna 5 days previously. It was good to be around people again ✨💛🔱

    Soverato Beach

    Bovalino to Soverato Beach. As the staffers would say, another 10 hour hectic sail. This time the Gaurdia flew to us to ascertain if we were needing rescue. Kevin gave the OK sign as they hovered next to us. The wind was beyond powerful with over 40 knot gusts. Not a great birthday for Kevin. Our bodies are tired but we are elated with our enjoyment of controlling GypsyDjango in these conditions. A quick rest overnight and the weather forecast changing to onshore, a decision was made to cross tomorrow to the Greece Ionians - destination Paxos Lakka. So excited!!!! 🔱💛✨

    Paxos Lakka

    Italy Soverato Beach to Paxos Lakka. Back in the wonderful Ionians and one of favorite bays.
    We were flying and our 39 hour ETA ended up 30 hours. Reef, unreef, reef, unreef. Exhausting but worth the quick sail.

    A good mountain bike ride to discover the tiny island and to see 21 churches out of the 64 churches on this 25km square island.
