In the 1930's, my grandfather and grandmother took my mom and uncle every year for a three-month visit to my great grandmother and great aunt in Long Beach, California. It was a long drive from Ballinger, Texas to Long Beach.
I thought about them a lot today as we drove down the same I-10 highway they had taken.
