    In the 1930's, my grandfather and grandmother took my mom and uncle every year for a three-month visit to my great grandmother and great aunt in Long Beach, California. It was a long drive from Ballinger, Texas to Long Beach.

    I thought about them a lot today as we drove down the same I-10 highway they had taken. They weren't driving as fast back then as we did today on our hotrod and they didn't have air conditioning, so my grandfather would buy blocks of ice and put them on the floor of the car to keep everyone cool.

    Traveler  Yes, it’s amazing as traveling developed in three generations. My grandparents drove for their honeymoon in 1927 with their own car from Forst (Lausitz) to Meran.
