    Rockin' a little celebration in honor of the 250th Anny of the good 'ol USA. Virginia Slim and I set the trail, and the rest of the gringos provided support with food, beer, shirts, and good cheer.

    Trail was rather short, but heavy shiggy with a few back checks . . . and even a beer check out in the swamp. And fun, FUN I TELL YOU, was had by all.    Okumaya devam et

    It was that time of the month . . . so off we go chasing the full moon. We had a relatively new hare, and I will commend him for marking it well. BUT, it was a little boring, just lots of streets and lots of traffic. Still a good time. We had our AGM last month, but just got the shirts at this run, so we are all mostly wearing the same blue shirt.Okumaya devam et

    It was a long overnight flight from Mauritius, then having to wait 20 minutes to exit the plane, and 75 minutes in line at passport control. The train into town was fine, and then the taxi over to drop off my stuff went as planned. Then with only moments to spare, the taxi ride to the run site left me only about 5 minutes behind the pack. So dashing off in chase, I managed to catch up to the pack in less than 10 minutes . . . for some reason, they were all walking. I blew past them all, and ended up the FRB . . . WTH? 🤪🤪

    It is great to be back in Bangkok, and enjoying the rainy weather this time of year. The trail was shortened due to both the heat of the day, and the ensuing rain it brought in. No trail today, as we have the monthly Full Moon Hash tomorrow, and all is right in the world. On On . . .    Okumaya devam et

    Mauritius H3 #960

    Mauritius is a lovely island in the south Indian Ocean, aprox 1000 kms east of Madagascar, and even a remote island such as this has an active hash club. The Mauritius H3 was founded by Charles 'Bird' Mochan on 14 May 1988, when he came over from previously hashing in Finland with the Helsinki H3. This is my first visit to Mauritius, and although I have run about 100 trails this year, it has been 9 months since I last added a new country hashed in. So today was extra special to join the Mauritius H3 on trail for a most excellent 7 km trail. We had over 50 hashers turn up, and everyone was very friendly.

    Trail started on Albion Beach 2, and headed directly out into the sugar cane fields. The marks were straight forward, just the way I like. Circles were a check, plops of flour marked the way, and an occasional arrow to point the way to the Runner’s and Walker’s trails. The views in all directions were amazing, and the whole island is calm and relaxing, you just have to come visit to feel it. They run every other Sunday morning, and this was their 960th trail. So, in about 18 months they will be celebrating their 1000th. Will have to come back to help them celebrate.    Okumaya devam et

    One more trail before departing Germany. I hared a trail a few kms down the road from where I used to live, in a relatively underutilized quadrant of the greater Stuttgart area.
    Lots of great trail options, for this 8 km scurry with plenty of forested cover on a hot summer day. Hoping some of the pack got some more photos . . . BUT, it was Photocopulator's birthday, where she generously hosted a drink stop to help us celebrate. Another great day on the hash.Okumaya devam et

    German Hash-a-thon 2026

    Another great weekend in the hinterlands of Germany. We had about 30 hashers turn up for this one, hash-a-thon, out in Horwagen (about 3 hours north of Munich). As you might have guessed, this year’s event was hosted by the Munich H3, and they did a wonderful job hosting us. Great food, plenty to drink, and awesome trails. If you are not familiar with a hash-a-thon, it is four hash trails that eventually equal 42 kms of bliss, all in one day. Each trail is hared by a different hash club, and they use their own club’s marks (so just enough to keep you on your toes while running). Participants can run all four trails, or any of them or just one, totally up to the individual. This year the first trail was 16 kms, second trail was 11 kms, number 3 was mine at 8 kms, and the last one was supposed to be 7, but ended up closer to 9. This year’s winner for most distance covered was Made-2-Cum from Frankfurt, and he covered 49.2 kms. My lazy ass only did 22.

    The pictures provided are some hanging out photos, but all the trail shots are of trail three . . . the one I hared (and tagged along with the pack when they ran it). Although it rained pretty hard on Friday night, we had great weather otherwise. It’s a wonderful life.    Okumaya devam et

    Dienstag Schnitzeljagd Trupp H3 #872

    Back to my second home (Germany), I say that a lot. I actually have several places that I can refer to as home, it’s a wonderful life. Arrived in time to join the Dienstag Schnitzeljagd Trupp H3 for their regular Tuesday trail. It was an excellent shiggy trail through the forest near the airport. The pack ran between 10-12 kms depending on how many checks they worked on . . . me on the other hand, with my bum knee, took a couple liberal shortcuts and staggered in at just over 6 kms.

    The DST H3 is a no frills, free hash club in Stuttgart. When I founded it back in 2009, it was designed with a focus on the trail alone, as a running hash. It remains such still to today, so happy for that. We followed up trail with an awesome German / Croatian dinner and called it a night. Great great great times on the hash.    Okumaya devam et

    Oslo H3 #2001 – A Hash Odyssey

    Back to your regularly scheduled program . . . and it was a bit of a special event, as a spoof on a Space Odyssey. We met at a park overlooking the city on an overcast evening . . . but just before we set off on trail, the sun burst out for the first time all weekend, it was magnificent. Trail took us southerly down the coast, and out onto one of the islands in the bay. When I say out onto an island, I mean an island behind an island, way out to the end, on a single lane road. They also mentioned there would be no transportation, so we would have to walk out on our own. Happy Days.

    It was a beautiful location for the end, complete with swimming. Circle was short and sweet, and then they fed us some gumbo like rice dish, which was washed down with 150 NOK (about $18 USD) swill. A very entertaining end to an awesome weekend. And to top it all off, there was a surprise in the circle, as the founder . . . Ahluetta . . . was presented with a copy of the ultimate book on HHH History, TRUE TRAIL. It was a complete surprise to me, as you might expect, but a pleasant one. So another signed copy has entered the world library.    Okumaya devam et

    INTERSCANDI 2026 – Hangover Trail

    We had a great night of partying last night (yes, I eventually did leave the comfort of my bed to return), and the beer and wine was flowing . . . along with the live music. We had a fine breakfast this morning, before boarding the busses back into downtown.

    Trail started in the very famous Frogner Park, in central Oslo. Mother Nature was spitting rain down on us for a bit, but it eventually cleared off about 10 minutes into trail, and from then on we enjoyed a lovely afternoon. We passed by many interesting statues, buildings, and parks, along the way to the ? Mark Bar for lunch, circle, and social drinking for an additional hour or two. My knee felt pretty good this morning, but I thought it was still the pain killer I took yesterday afternoon . . . but even now, 24 hours later, my knee still feels quite good . . . It must be a Christmas Miracle. Time will tell, let’s see how it feels tomorrow morning. 😊

    Overall, the Oslo H3 has done a magnificent job hosting us this weekend. What a treat . . . great venue, excellent trails, and plenty of cold beverages.

    INTERSCANDI 2026 – Main Event

    In my ever expanding effort to “act my age” . . . or back off and not be crippled for the rest of the day, I opted for the long trail at 14 kms, vice my usual attempt at the Ball Buster Trail, which was 25 kms. We were executing a B to A movement, getting to the train station and out to the start, when we ended up arriving at the train station about 45 minutes early, and standing around in the rain. We did have a 10 minute game of Rock/Paper/Scissors that distracted us for a bit, but dodging the rain was the main effort.

    The train finally arrived, and took us up the mountain where we jumped out and took off. First we climbed to the top of the first mountain, which was fine. My knee was feeling pretty good for the first 7 kms, but just as we were descending down a steep section for the mid trail aquavit stop, I slipped on a wet rock and wrenched my knee again and that was it. I was walking from there on in, and took a short cut. That only cut off about 2 kms, but was happy to be done. From there it was a hot shower and dry clothes, and partaking of a few local adult beverages.

    Once all of the pack got in and sorted, we circled up for down downs, which were entertaining with all the various hashers from around Europe. Then it was more rehydrating while we waited for dinner to be served. I am now back in my room, deciding if I want to roll over and go to sleep (Yay!!!), or rally for another hour or two of dancing and frivolity. My knee is screaming go to bed, but my party animal side is tapping me on the shoulder, and whispering in my ear that . . . you flew all the damn way to Norway for this event, GO PARTY!!

    Thirsty Thursday H3 - Oslo

    I hashed last night in Bangkok, straight back for a shower and grab my backpack, and off to the airport. Fly all night, via Dubai, and arrive here in Oslo around noon. Bus to the hotel, and just about an hour to relax before heading off to the hash here in Oslo.

    It was an excellent prelube to the weekend INTERSCANDI events. But I am so tired, all I could do is run the trail, grab a burger and a couple beers, and chat up a few hashers, then right back to the hotel for hopefully a good night's sleep.

    My Garmin watch must have been tired as well, as it did not want to sync up until the first km complete of this 5.5 km hilly trail through downtown Oslo. I think we had about 30 hashers in all, about half walkers and half runners. Good to see friends, but getting a good sleep tonight will make the rest of the weekend more enjoyable. On On.     Unlike last week, when it rained like hell the day before . . . today, it rained 15 minutes before trail, washing away all the chalk marks, and leaving the paper droopy.
    Just as we set off running, the rain stopped and all was well. We still managed to find most of the trail, and worked our way around the local neighborhood to find our way back to the beer. And as they say . . . another great day on the hash.

    I could not stay for dinner this time, as I am now at the airport . . . on my way to Oslo, Norway for INTERSCANDI 2026. On-On.    Okumaya devam et

    Oh boy . . . I had the most passive GRAB driver ever. This drive took nearly 30 minutes longer than it should have, albeit the traffic was horrendous partially due to the rain.
    Anyway, I ended up being 15 minutes late to Tinker's run by the river.

    So took off and tried to catch up by cutting a few corners ZENNING. But it was fruitless, was by myself the whole time. It reminded me of my early days of hashing back in 1984 in Japan. Back then, the Okinawa H3 was always live hared, and snaring the hare was the highest objective. So there were times the hares took off in one direction, and I went the opposite, hoping to find them. I was successful a few times, but more often than not, just ended up towards the end of the pack . . . BUT, always found the end. They were also always A to B trails, by the way.

    Again, on this one, I did get back to the start since it was A to A, and was not even DFL. 🙂

    Another year has come and gone, and a new committee has been formed for the next year. After nearly 7 years of vagabond living, I have semi, sort of, pounded a stake in the ground and will call Bangkok home for a while, as I have been appointed the new HonSec for the Bangkok H3. This should be fun.

    Trail was an excellent 7+ kms of dirt and mud . . . set by Kamikaze-Ali and Horny Viking, out past Don Mueang Airport. Plenty of excellent checks, and dashing along on the rice paddies. Circle was all the usual stuff, and then dinner that included the announcement of the new committee. All to be revealed in an upcoming hash trash.    Okumaya devam et

    It almost looked like rain at the start, but all was well and although we (make that me) were still covered in sweat, it did not rain. It was an excellent trail though, hared by Hotlips, Pom, and one other harriette . . . the all-girl super hare team. Trail was about 7.5 kms of twists and turns in the dark. I am still nursing a messed up knee, but was able to do some running. But was at the back of the pack the whole time, so mostly by myself. Good thing the pack was marking the checks. Yes, yes . . . another great day on the hash.

    We had one naming, but hell if I can remember what it was. He recently moved here from Trinidad, and he had a shirt on, with FP on the front. His name is something F**** P****, very original.    Okumaya devam et

    It was another last minute fill in for another hasher that could not set trail, so I volunteered. I looked around and found an area that I had sort of half scouted on previous adventures, and cobbled it all together. Turned out pretty good, but not without some drama. I went out the day before to get a solid scouting effort in, but about ¾ of the way through, it started to rain . . . and rain hard. Abort that, but had to go out early on the day to finish up scouting before setting trail. Thank goodness it all worked as planned.

    The pictures tell the story of the rain, and I made a couple minor adjustments to work around flooded areas but still got plenty of shiggy, grassy, dirty, options included, for a fine 7 km excursion. I had a good time, so I am sure the pack did as well. After a good dinner, rode back into town, and while walking home got caught in the rain again. But was only 5 min away, so just walked it, arriving soaking wet, and straight into the shower, so no worries. Another great day on the hash.

    Having a little knee trouble this week, so had to walk trail. The Nigerian hared this one from the Hidden Lighthouse, and it was an excellent trail. Really good turnout as well, with nearly 40 hashers on hand. Several returners, and a couple visitors from Tampa, Florida. Those two could not stop talking in circle, so called themselves out several times. Dinner was excellent as well, so another great day on the hash.Okumaya devam et

    Another excellent trail on the outskirts of Bangkok. We ventured way out to the east, to Nong Chok for this 7 km romp through green rice fields and dirt tracks of shiggy. It was a rather humid day, but the temps were cooler with an overcast sky. Other than running into the hares a couple times, mocking us on trail as we ran by, it was an great day out in the fresh air.

    Circle was well timed, not too long. Dinner was excellent . . . and then the long drive back to town . . . but WELL worth it. Good job to Krinkle Kut and Ladyboy for another great day on the hash.    Okumaya devam et

    It was our AGM tonight, and the outgoing GM pulled out all the stops. Trail was excellent, dinner was free, and fun was had by all. We had a pretty good turnout on a Friday night, lots of good energy. The new committee was announced, so we are set up for another great year of hashing.

    One more trail in Chiang Mai before heading back to Bangkok. We had the 45th Anniversary celebration on Sunday, and this one was the AGPU. Smaller pack, but just as much fun.

    The hare stated trail would be shorter, something like 4 kms . . . wrong. With checking, I got 6 kms . . . but still rather short. Had some good shiggy, and the checks were tough, so kept the pack together as most were walking anyway.

    Chiang Mai H3 #1639 (45th Anniversary Run)

    The Chiang Mai H3 was founded on 21 May 1981 by Charlie 'Radar' Graham, who had previously hashed in Bangkok, and he was assisted by Ian 'Calves' Law.     The trail on Sunday was excellent, with plenty of shiggy (and two water crossings). At nearly 9 kms, we got in a bit of everything you can imagine. Rice Paddies, streams, walls, fields of green, farmers out tending their crops . . . you name it (check out the photos).
    Now, the circle . . . all the usual down downs were doled out, and some remembrances for the older chaps that have been around here for a long time. BUT, as the world's foremost historian on HHH history, there were a few things I just could not let slide (all in fun that is). First, when I got the email for the event, they included a claim of being the second oldest hash club in Thailand . . . so had to inform them they are actually the third hash club. So then they changed it to the Oldest Male Hash in Thailand . . . had to correct them on that as well, as the Bangkok H3 is older (and still active) male hash here, and it is quite likely the first one (Ubon Ratchathani H3 founded in 1966, but defunct), was probably male only as well. To top it all off, Superman, who was on run number 1 (and was wearing the shirt from that run - which I just noticed has the wrong date on it 🙂 ), showed that they had actually lifted the Bangkok H3 logo for their first shirt . . . see the evidence in the photos. After mentioning all that, for a good laugh, my hash buddy who shall remain names (ibo ibo) played sea lawyer, and refuted the claim and treated me to a down down as well. All in fun.

    It was an awesome day on the hash, and today is the actual AGPU, so more fun to be had this afternoon.    Okumaya devam et

    Chiang Mai Saturday H3 #1813

    It was an excellent 8 kms of shiggy trail, with just enough hills to make it interesting, but not toooooo much to kill me. 🙂 It was only a 35 min ride out of town to the run site, and well worth it. We had about 25 hashers on hand, and they all were quite lively.
    Circle was energetic, with ice, and lots of down downs. Dinner followed, and that was crazier than the circle. I thought we'd have a few beers with dinner, but the food kept coming . . . and so did the beer. These guys can party. 🙂    Okumaya devam et

    Another humid evening, with hazy gray skies that looked like potential rain . . . but it held off. It was a shorter than usual trail, only about 5.5 kms. First half had many fun and interesting twists and turns, but then the second half was pretty much long straightaways on residential streets . . . but we still had fun.Okumaya devam et

    This was an "interesting" trail, the marks kept us guessing throughout. The pack ended up all spread out in the park, so ended up doing much of the check breaking, but always a good time even if a bit frustrating.

    As the pack drifted in to the finish, we had good conversation (about the trail). Once we were all assembled, and the down downs were starting to be poured . . . the wind picked up quickly, and we could see the down pour about to happen. So we grabbed our stuff and headed for shelter. Got doused a bit just before reaching cover, but fortunately still had the wet hash clothes on, so all good.

    We are entering the rainy season, so this is probably not the last time this will happen in the coming months. As always, another great day on the hash.    Okumaya devam et

    The ladies hared this one, and one may be taken by the shape of trail, and the associated marks. You can decide . . . 🙂 Looks a little like a phallus.

    Anyway, despite the comparison, it was a good run surrounded by many unhappy dogs. Some of us had a find canine adjustment tools to ward off the little buggers. All in all, we had a pretty good sized pack, and we all enjoyed trail and circle, followed by a tasty dinner of Thai cuisine. Another great day on the hash.

    We did, however, have a gang of three gents that needed a taxi to extract themselves from trail, and ended up taking a bit of a joy ride before carefully jumping out a few hundred meters from the end. Unfortunately for them, another hasher witnessed the return to trail, and called them out. Down downs for the three of them. 🙂    Okumaya devam et
