    Getting Ready!

    June 17, 2017 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Our Anniversary Trip starts with an early Father's Day celebration and last minute packing the day off!

  • Lift off!

    June 17, 2017 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Got to the airport super early and we went though everything in no time -Thanks to Nexus! We even had time to burn through one and a half episode of Suits :)
We got a big double decker A380. It's a super modern plane with decent VOD systems (fast forward still doesn't work). Even babies have special cribs for them! That baby was super good didn't cry a single bit the entire flight.
We tried sitting on the upper deck - it's definitely a bit more quiet.

  • Arrived at London

    June 18, 2017 in England ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

It's so hot in London! It's 31C when we got there. I knew that the tube does not have air-conditioning but I did not remember how hot it is :( People are eating not one ice-cream but the whole pack on the train.... We are determined to get our own! Took us just over an hour to get there - about £3 person vs £17 on Heathrow Express.Read more

  • The Rental Place

    June 18, 2017 in England ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

The first thing to know about this place is that it is on the fifth and top floor. There is a nonfunctional elevator. Secondly the is no air conditioning. We were literally soaking wet by the time we got to our placeRead more

  • New China Town?

    June 18, 2017 in England ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

We just walked around the area looking for supermarkets. There where in general small groceries but the big chains like Tesco and Sainsbury also have "local stores" too. What is surprising is the number of Chinese restaurants on that one street. This is no where near the China Town....
I was so hot that at the first store we run into, we bought ice-cream!

  • Brunch

    June 19, 2017 in England ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Everyday we eat a heavy breakfast so we can eat a lighter lunch on the go. We found Banana Milk - something that we have never seen in Canada!
Here are some samples of breakfasts....

  • British Museum

    June 19, 2017 in England ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

There is so much to see at the British Museum! And it's all free :)
Of course we looked at the one and only Rosetta Stone - we actually found another one that we can hug later. We also see the Easter Island Statue too. The Parthenon is so impressive though I still have a bit of problem putting everything back together in my heard and imagine what it was like when everything was still on the wall...Read more

  • Harrods

    June 19, 2017 in England ⋅ 🌙 21 °C

Harrods, our first shopping expedition. It is so hot and we are getting a bit tired by this time. Good thing we has the Fish and Chips! We browsed around the food court and everything is even more expensive than normal London! For example, the ice cream sundaes at the ice-cream place was GBP 25 each :P
So we just focused on the souvenir section instead.

  • British Museum Part 2

    June 20, 2017 in England ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Second visit to British Museum. We found a Rosetta Stone (replica) what we can touch. We also found a few odd ball things like the portrait of Sir Hans Sloane - the founder of British Museum and the inventor of Chocolate Milk...
Also we found out that the head of the iconic discus thrower (Townley Discobulus) actually has his head put on the wrong way :)

  • Royal Albert Hall

    June 21, 2017 in England ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Seat right across the stage behind the floor seats. The Hall is much bigger than I imagined. But the acoustic is amazing that the orchestra feels like it's right in front of you.

The Romeo and Juliet Overture was great, so was the Nutcracker excerpts. The best part was the 1812 Overture. The (small) fireworks at the end was a really nice touch.Read more

  • The National Gallery

    June 21, 2017 in England ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

The National Gallery is located right on Trafalgar Square. Unfortunately it is not very photogenic because of all the equipment lying there. Not sure what they are repairing.
The National Gallery itself is enormous. We looked at some Rembrandts and many others. There is an exhibit on Michaelangelo and his (only) friend Sabastiano. But no pics where allowed there, so we have to settle for photos of the souvenir replicas in the gift shop :)Read more

  • Dinner @ Fumo Resturant

    June 21, 2017 in England ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

It is still boiling hot in London. We are rather tired and famish. We wonder around (not for too long) until we see this restaurant. Ordered a 2 person combo for 29 quids... it was nice and supposed to be like 4.5 stars......
Then on our way back home we wondered upon the M&Ms world!

Bath is one of 47 UNESCO heritage cities, the only one in UK.

  • Stonehenge

    June 22, 2017 in England ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Final stop for the day trip - highlight of the day! Stonehenge is another UNESCO heritage site. The stones have been there for over 5500 years! No one knows how the stones where transported there nor how they can be lined up with the solar solstice.Read more

  • 221b Baker Street

    June 23, 2017 in England ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

The real 221b Baker Street! Well, as real as the Monkey King I supposed. :) We have been told by multiple people that GBP 15 each for the museum is not worth it. So we headed straight for the gift shop....Read more

  • King's Cross Station

    June 23, 2017 in England ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

On our way to Fortnum and Mason, we have to transit from bus to tube near King's Cross. So we decided to have a look around the "platform". There is no disappointment there as we bumped into a few Hogwart's students there.Read more
