Day one of Camino del Salvador

There was a mailbox with a notebook along the trail today for those walking this route to sign in on. There were also some first aid supplies inside.

Today was all about climbing - and sweating. But I was rewarded with these spectacular views.
I decided to do a 30 km walk today which usually wouldn't take me more than 5-7 hours, but because of the terrain and lots of ups and downs I was walking for over 10 hours.

I was surprised to see this statue of Woody Allen in Oviedo. Apparently the city awarded him one of its highest honors back in 2002.
I walked from Oviedo to Avilés today, so I'm back on the Camino del Norte, which I almost completed last year until I got shin splints and had to stop walking.
Today's walk was about 18 miles, mostlyBaca lagi
Fairly easy walk today - about 16 miles. Finally had someone to talk to in English! A nice college student from Singapore. I resisted the urge to walk too far, and stopped around 1:30 today.
It was on this stretch last year that I walked too fast and got shin splints. I'm happy to report that I made it today uninjured. 😊
And additionally I walked an extra 2.5 km to be closer to theBaca lagi
