St Jean Pied de Port

After a very nice train ride in first class on the upper deck from Paris I arrived in St Jean Pied de Port. It's a lot warmer here than it was in Paris where it was cold any rainy.

St Jean Pied de Port to Orisson

First day of walking. Just a short day, but the steepest on the entire Camino Francés. Gorgeous scenery in the Pyrenees on the way to Refuge Orisson.

Orisson to Roncesvalles

It was a misty and cold day. Unfortunately, visibility was poor, so I couldn't see the beautiful Pyrenees. But it was a fairly easy walk.
Roncesvalles to Larrasoaña

Walked 27 km today with a very steep downhill section, which my right knee decided it didn't like. 😕
A lot of the walk was through beautiful forest paths.

Larrasoaña to Pamplona

I'm happy to report that my knee didn't give me much trouble today. Of course there were no brutal downhill sections to walk, so that helped. And the fact that it was only about a ten mile walk today.
Alto de Perdón

Ciraqui

Santa María de Eunate

Took a detour today to visit this small romanesque church which was built in 1170.

It was a drizzly, but not really rainy day.

Sansol to Logroño

A mostly great day for walking weather wise. Clear and cool. It clouded up a bit at the end, abd I felt a few sprinkles. I entered into La Rioja today, which is famous for its wines.
Logroño

Saturdays in Logroño are busy! Saw multiple bachelor/bachelorette parties with people in costumes.
Enjoyed tapas with several people on Calle del Laurel.

Azofra

This tiny town is a hidden gem on the Camino. The municipal albergue is very well laid out with single beds two to a room. I'm sharing a room with Diane from England who I met on my first day on the Czytaj więcej

Burgos Cathedral

I've been to Burgos before and taken lots of pictures of the outside, but thus is the first time that I've gone inside.

First two days of the Meseta

Some people think that this part of the Camino is boring. In fact today I talked briefly with a woman who commented on my cheeriness, then said how boring the landscape was. All that I could see was Czytaj więcej

I met this couple this morning. He is traveling along the Camino under his own power in his wheelchair. They have chosen parts of the Camino that are smoother and flatter, but I was still amazed at Czytaj więcej
The "halfway" point

This marks the halfway point between Roncesvalles and Santiago. But I started farther back in France, and I won't be continuing on the Camino Frances. Instead, when I reach León in a few days I will Czytaj więcej
