Condominio "Barcelo" - a gated community for rich people in the north of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. And my homeland for nearby one year in the house of my guest family. Football, basketball and volleyball places just for them, all for free, a disco, swimming pool and a gym for free and much more. All placed close to a beautiful lagoon. A double-edged feeling, if you see all the poverty outside of this area..Les mer

  • Sucre - The capital of Bolivia

    16. juli 2012, Bolivia ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Sucre - We had to spend one or two days in Sucre to get our bolivian visas. But we didn't come in contact with bolivian bureaucracy before. The fact is we stayed in this city for more than 10 days! A lot of time to visit this beautiful city with his beautiful places!

Sucre is a city, which was founded by the spanish conquerors. The historic downtown is completely inspired by spanish architecture. It's located in the lower Andes Mountains.

  • Some things you can do in Sucre

    20. juli 2012, Bolivia ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

In our ten days we really tried to do a lot in this wondeful city. We walk on the pike of a mountain which sits entrhoned above the city, we went out at night or did some crazy things like bullriding. You also should visit the unique and beautiful cemetery and the peacefull bars at the hills out of the city.

One other thing you have to know: if you have the possibilty to visit the market, go there and try the supertasty fruit shakes! They just costs you 30cents or something like that. And they're really good!

  • Journey P.1 - Tramping

    15. november 2012, Bolivia ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Bolivia has so much different and great things you can find out. People cultures, places and nature, trust me, you'll expand your horizons!

To travel is a real adventure. Dont take your boring guidebook, just throw it away! Look for some friends, and go where ever you want to. Be spontaneous! Hear to other volunteers or people what's worth to visit! So you're able to find all the great places. And for sure, tramping will make it more intensly!

Some words to the roadblock-photo: In Bolivia live many people which are uncontent with the politics of the government. To make some pressure, they block important roads for everyone. That's a huge problem in Bolivia. In a country which is more than 3 times bigger, but just have a population of 12% of Germany, cities are extremely faraway to each other. And normally, there is just one road between. So if a street is blocked, you maybe need to make a detour of 400 kilometres or more.

  • Journey P.4 - Tupiza

    19. november 2012, Bolivia ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

Just a small village in the south of Bolivia. There rules a dry and hot climate. It's located just 200km away to the Atacama desert, the hottest desert in the world.

And yeah, before you start thinking it's a river on the last photo. it isn't. It's the main street of Tupiza during a heavy rain.Les mer

  • Journey P.5 - Tarija

    24. november 2012, Bolivia ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

After some days in Tupiza without any green nature, it was a pleasure to spend some time in Tarija. This area is well known for wine and is one of the richer cities in Bolivia. We did some wine tasting and spent some time in bars and clubs. And of course we discover the city for nices places.Les mer

  • Journey P.6 - Villamontes

    27. november 2012, Bolivia ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Villamontes - our last stop of this journey. We spent just 2 days there, because the average climate is officially the highest one in Bolivia. I remembered how 52 degrees made us sweat like a waterfall. It has been so hot, you couldn't move or go outside of the hotel!Les mer

  • salt & silver journey p.1 - Potosí

    26. desember 2012, Bolivia ⋅ ⛅ 8 °C

Potosí - once in time one of the biggest cities of the world! More then 90% of the Renaissance silver is coming out of the huge mine in this city, called Cerro Rico. Today this city is in big danger, cause the mine-tunnels undermine the city and bring it to tumble down.

In our times, Potosí is like the rest of bolivian cities: it's poor!
