Day 520: Medieval Town of Torun

    July 19, 2018 in Poland ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Back on the road again! Walked a few blocks to a nearby hotel to pick up our next car, a Renault Clio Estate. Decent car in reasonable condition, much better than the previous couple of cars. Headed off in steady rain to the northwest, driving about four hours to the town of Torun.

This was a medieval trading outpost, member of the Hanseatic League and the birthplace of Nicolas Copernicus (yes he's Polish!), so quite a bit to see. Unfortunately we had slightly underestimated the size of the place, and still had quite a way to drive to Gdansk and our apartment for the night.

We ended up having a fairly rushed visit of just two hours, when we could pretty easily have spent another two exploring. I still think we did the place justice, but I guess the video will be the ultimate judge of that.

Back in the car heading north where we drove to the port city of Gdansk on the Baltic coast. Checked into our apartment for the night with no issues, and just ended up staying the rest of the time.
