    Day 543: Bamberg

    August 11, 2018 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Headed north to the town of Bamberg, another World Heritage site. This one is similar to Regensburg, with lots of old half-timbered houses and interesting buildings to see. The highlight was definitely the old town hall, sitting on a tiny island in between two arms of a river. It's got a strong Czech and Polish feel here as the city traded in that direction for much of its history, so the culture got imported back if that makes sense.

Wandered around checking out various sights including the cathedral, the old fortress, and a spot known as Little Venice which is where all their fishermen had their houses. Nice little town!

Mid afternoon we headed off to our apartment, a nice suite in a small guesthouse about 20 minutes out of town. Unfortunately since it was a small town we couldn't get 3G, and being down the end of the hotel meant that we couldn't get the wifi signal either. So we resorted to sitting around in the dining room! At least it had nice large windows and was on the edge of a hill, so we had a good view while we did laptop stuff.
