First impression of Sri Lanka: flat!

Today is "bush day" in the wilderness! It's going to be a long day, starting at 8am. Hh We are taking the "Day at the Udawalawe National Park With Lunch" 8hr tour, which included a day safari and a visit to the Elephant Transit Home.

After a two-hour coach, we took a wild ride in a covered jeep truck carrying seven of us throughout the bush where we saw mongoose, a variety of birds including bee-eaters, water buffalo, crocodiles, peacocks, p-hens, and Asian elephants (adults and babies!!).

Then we headed to a 'transit' home for baby elephants. It was wonderful to see the dozens of critters lope up to the feeders.
