  • 4 Sea days

    March 6, 2020, Arabian Sea ⋅ 🌙 73 °F

We are out in the Indian Ocean. We have 3 more sea days..thus very limited email WiFi opportunity.

Today, we attended a lecture on “trade routes in the Indian Ocean”. Very interesting.

We are fortunate that we have Fox news. Plus MSNBC. We also get several BBC stations too which is covering the Coronavirus. So we are staying “home”, like the media is suggesting, right here in cabin 6003. We are enjoying our time on NCL Spirit. Our next stop will be Seychelles island on Tuesday and Wednesday. Remember we are 12 hours ahead of you. When it’s 6am Dallas time, it is 6pm where we are.

We also attended a Cruise Critic gathering and met the officers.

  • Refurbished NCL Spirit

    March 9, 2020, Indian Ocean ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F

Once we arrived on the newly refurbished NCL Spirit on Feb 14 in Italy, I was amazed by the transformation.
I loved the new “the Local”.
The pool area is very nice.
There is no viewing the Bridge up on deck 11/12.
There is no library, but new improved spa area.
The back deck off of the Garden cafe has new tables and chairs.
It’s a nice pool area. (The children’s pool was taken out). We call this area “Bartz’s table”.

  • Refueling in Seychelles

    March 11, 2020 on the Seychelles ⋅ ☁️ 82 °F

We couldn’t get off the Spirit.

Seychelles closed the port because of Coronavirus.
This is day 6 Sea Day in a Row
So a large barge arrived to refuel us. We hear that later tonight there will be some extra crew and supplies to arrive. NCL has run out of lettuce, spinach, oranges and other food supplies.

  • 16 SEA days

    March 20, 2020 in South Africa ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

Wow, a lot has happen in the past 16 days. We were denied entry into Seychelles, Mauritius and Reunion.

So we made best of our sea days. We played a lot of LCR (left, center, right). I never won. Glenn won once. 30.00$

We crossed the equator at exactly 12 noon. And we enjoyed celebrating Darla’s birthday st Onda’s.

There is no Coronavirus on board. We have enjoyed each other’s company.

Glenn has organized worship service like every other day. We read scripture and sing songs. Even the guest pianist plays for us.

I worked on several projects this cruise.

I made friends with Christine the first day we left the hotel in Civitavecchia. She was one of the first to help us board. Well she asked to buy one of my projects.
I knew where to find her to give her the Christmas project - the bar.

    March 24, 2020 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

We had 10.5 hour flight over Africa to Madrid. Then the plane was escorted over to the area for refueling. That took about 1 hour. The flight crew left and a new crew took over. The cleaning crew came on to restock the food and disinfect the bathrooms.

Countless airplanes were on the tarmac and no planes were taking off and landing.

Then 9 hour flight to Miami

  • Arrival into MIA and then to DFW

    March 24, 2020 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 72 °F

Here is what I typed up and sent Karen, as soon as we landed at MIA.

    Karen,
I write this as we are about 1.5 hours til landing in Miami on Monday 23march

We had 10.5 hour flight over Africa to Madrid. Then the plane was escorted over to the area for refueling. That took about 1 hour. The flight crew left and a new crew took over. The cleaning crew came on to restock the food and disinfect the bathrooms.

Countless airplanes were on the tarmac and no planes were taking off and landing.

Then 9 hour flight to Miami.

Once we go through customs, we have no idea what that looks like. I’m sure there will be additional information gathered about our travels and the places we stopped at.

We also will be making some calculated decisions. Questions like what has happened in the world these last 24 hours? Are there any more domestic flights out? If we leave the airport Can we rent a car? Is there hotels available? will we be quarantined? If so can we drive up to Orlando? What flights are there to Dallas and to Orlando? If we fly to Dallas on Monday night, that is too late for Walmart stop?

    Plan A
(Not knowing what’s happened since we’ve been in the air)
Just check emails, flights, and make decisions probably if there are flights out on

We have several places to stay
Scott and Barbara Russell in Orlando
    8625 la Prada
    binion lake house near Tyler
    Wolf house in east Texas
