  • Bogotá - Museum de Botero

    18 de junho de 2018, Colômbia ⋅ 🌧 15 °C

As we were not strangers to Botero's work, we were really interested in visiting the museum with his artwork located Bogotá' s downtown.
It was the artist himself who arranged the display of his and other artists work. On display are painting from Monet, Picasso and other famous painters.
My favorite was Mona Lisa and the Oranges.
His work is well recognised all over the world and his style is unmistakable.
The museum is for free and will be forever so absolutely recommending a visit!

  • Final day in South America

    19 de junho de 2018, Colômbia ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

We have started our day bright an early as we wanted to watch the football much with our friend Guillermo for yesterday.
Petr got on his football jersey and we headed towards the cafe.
Even though the Colombians lost the match, it was great morning and we got to chat a little bit more with our friend.
He has been making tailored suits for 54 years and comes from Medellín. We even got to see his shop and place of work.
After the football we headed back to our hostel stopping for a cup of coffee, naturally.
For lunch we grabbed a lovely burger nearby and went shopping to get stuff for dinner.
As the weather stayed miserable, we spent the death of the day planning and getting ready for the last part of our journey, the trip to sunny and hopefully warmer Caribbean!

  • Arriving to Dominican republic

    20 de junho de 2018, República Dominicana ⋅ 🌧 28 °C

After an easy three-hour flight from Bogotá, we have finally landed at our holiday destination.
We have a month to enjoy this Caribbean island including a city break in Santo Domingo and plenty of beach time before our return.
The humidity is around 90% and it took us a while to meet up with Edgar who will be taking us to our apartment.
With a bottle of Panama rum from duty-free, we are ready for the Caribbean!

Our holiday part of the traveling started really well.
The beach by our apartment was truly beautiful and the weather worked out nicely. As a bonus, we got free lounges directly on the beach and a working shower.
If it continues this way, we will have real trouble returning back to work.

  • First night in Santo Domingo

    24 de junho de 2018, República Dominicana ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

One of the first cities established in New America was Santo Domingo. After an initial try at the north of the island, the south turned out to be a better option and even today is Santo Domingo the biggest Central American city.
We have arrived by an easy bus ride from Punta Cana and walked the short distance towards our accommodation. Once we settled down, we could go out and explore.
The Dominican Republic is known for its Merengue and I am a big fan. The sound of the music is everywhere and the rhythm goes perfectly with the hot climate.
When we walked back from the shop, I could see chairs and the stage getting ready. So once we heard the music loudly shouting, we knew it was time to get out.
I'm not sure what was the occasion but there was a brilliant band playing live and the entire square filled with people moved to the rhythm of their songs.
The atmosphere was amazing and we have enjoyed watching everyone and even having a little dance of our own.

  • Santo Domingo

    25 de junho de 2018, República Dominicana ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

We enjoy discovering the city on foot and that's exactly what we did in Santo Domingo. We started walking Zona Colonial from the square close to the port and then taking pictures around the first road, court house or market place in America.
Once we walked all the way to the sea, we got joined by a tour guide who didn't really offer anything and just walked with us. I guess he thought we are rich tourists, even though we did say where we come from and started showing us all the different places.
I must say it was quite interesting and there were a few things we have learned about the city we didn't know before.
We have finished the tour of the first hospital and when he asked for 40 USD we had to laugh. I did offer 200 DOP what's an equivalent of 4 USD. Not really happy, he took the money and I bet he will remember that Czech is not the same as Russian :)
From here we took stroll back to pick up the laundry and chill after a busy day of exploring.

  • Trip to IKEA in Santo Domingo

    26 de junho de 2018, República Dominicana ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

After a long day of discovering the city we have decided to make a trip to our favorite spot in Prague :) IKEA. We had two important things to do in here, have their fantastic meatballs and buy another panda that will keep company to our Pandaman.
After an easy Uber ride we got right outside and firstly walked around to catch up on new ideas once we get back and then picked Pandi.
The meatballs were almost as good as at home or in Sweden and we had to come back for another round before returning back the centre.

  • All inclusive

    28 de junho de 2018, República Dominicana ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

We have been looking forward to it for quite a while and I must say, it fulfilled everything we have asked for.
We have spent our days by drinking cocktails in the swimming pool, having meal around 5 times a day and enjoying the evening entertainment.
It was super relaxing and we even got to meet few nice people.
As the World Championship was in full swing, we have spent some time in the lobby cheering for European teams.
Our room was five times bigger than our tent and with lovely views. Of course we had to change it at least once thanks to Petr but that's part of the fun.
Overall, we had an amazing 10 days and I feel we gained a couple of pounds.
Our departure was brilliant as we were the only one who walked from the all inclusive resorts to their destination.

The food is big part of travelling for us as we love to try new things. All you can eat buffet is a fantastic upgrade and we took full advantage of it.
Starting from the breakfast where we enjoyed eggs, bacon and hash browns continuing with a great lunch at either pool, restaurant or buffet style restaurant Windows to having a a la carte dinner each night that we topped up with the buffet again.
Our favorite must have been Mexican buffet and Lasagne at the Italian DaMario restaurant.

  • Sand creations

    17 de julho de 2018, República Dominicana ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

To add a little bit of fun while spending time on the beach we have created over the one month couple of "sand castles".
Our Environmental octopus has been a project right by the sea with great idea of restaurant, research labs and exhibition space.
With Miv and Molly, two lovely girls we met with their mum we got to built a classic sand castle with its own swimming pool.
And at the end we got to built something between Prague castle and Alcatraz.
