Khao Chi Chan Buddha

This mount, which features the outline of a Buddha image engraved into the rock face using lasers, was created in tribute to King Rama IX on the 50th anniversary of his ascension to the throne. The image of a seated Buddha in the attitude of subduing Mara is 30 metres in height and 70 metres in width and is known as Maha Vajira Uttamobhassada, meaning the great prophet who brings enlightenment. The area surrounding the mount features some pretty, well-kept gardens that are lovingly maintained by the Thai Royal Marine Corps. Open daily 08.00 - 18.00 hrs.
