  • New Delhi - Bike tour through Old Delhi

    March 31, 2018 in India ⋅ 🌫 21 °C

On my first day I got up at 5:00 in order to go an a 3 hour bike tour through the old part of Delhi. We saw the city slowly waking up, the sun rising. People were getting ready for the day. It was still fresh and the air still clean. A magic experience.Read more

  • Old Delhi in the afternoon

    March 31, 2018 in India ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Those of us who skipped the Bollywood show went on a tour on foot with our new friend Ahmer. We visited temples and the Red Fort, walked through the basar of Old Delhi, saw hundreds of little shops and vendors and finally crossed a parade in honor of Hunman's birhday - the monkey god. We also had our first Thalis and I enjoyed a fresh fruit juice from the street and sweets from the temples without getting sick :-)Read more

  • Jaipur - The Pink City (1)

    April 3, 2018 in India ⋅ ⛅ 35 °C

After Agra, we went to Jaipur by bus and arrived there in the afternoon. Had time to go to the pool and then were taken to some carpet / scarf venue were we all bought more than we had planned to :-) The next day we did a tour of the city stopping at and visiting the cities most prominent sights such as the Palace of the winds and the fort. From the bus you can observe the every day life but it's hard to capture on camera, especially when moving fast. I think I mananged to take some nice pics though.Read more

  • Ranthambore National Park (part 1)

    April 5, 2018 in India ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

From Jaipur, we took the train to Ranthambore National Park where we stayed three nights in a really nice hotel. On the first day, some of us just relaxed at the pool (me for example...) whereas others went on a tour to the obligatory fort. The next morning we got up very early to do a first round of animal watching in the Park... We saw many different interesting and beautiful animals but unfortunately, we didn't see any tiger... However, the tour was really nice, the atmosphere was very peaceful and it was astonishing how fearless they were as they know they have nothing to fear from humans. We saw different kinds of birds such as parrots and peacocks - the national animal of India - curious monkeys, deer and even an allegator.Read more

  • Ranthambore National Park (part 2)

    April 5, 2018 in India ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

After a long break at the pool we went on a second tour through the park and this time we got lucky: we did see a tiger. She was mainly lying on the ground, too lazy to do anything else. Everyone took hundreds of photos and I've managed to choose what I believe are the most interesting five... Of course, we also did see monkey, birds and deer, but none of the sightings were as exciting as the tiger of course :-) The cutest detail of all are the ears of the tiger... I'd never realized that tigers have black ears with big white dots on them not yellow and black stripes. Who would have known?Read more

  • At the train station...

    April 5, 2018 in India ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

We took the train three times and these are the best photos of people (including me) in trainstations.

  • Jodhpur

    April 7, 2018 in India ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

From Ranthambore, we took the train to Jodhpur, where our bus picked us up again and took us to our hotel. Jodhpur was definately my favorite place in Rajasthan, as I liked the activities such as the flying fox and I also got the chance to walk around the old city on my own. That's one reason why I took so many pictures... Here's a medley of different motivs.Read more

  • On the road from Jodhpur to Udaipur

    April 8, 2018 in India ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

On the road from Jodhpur to Udaipur we got to see some really interesting sights. First we visited a place where people come to worship a ... motorbike. Yes, a motorbike. I forgot parts of the legend, but apparently, some good samariter used it to take sick people to the hospital and after he died the motobike went on its own.... Yes. That's India :-) After some more hours on the road we visited Ranakpur Jain Temple, the biggest and most important Jain Temple in Rajastan and certainly one of the most beautiful temples I've ever seen!Read more

  • Udaipur during the day

    April 9, 2018 in India ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

From Jodhpur, we went to Udaipur passing some interesting sights on the way (see other post). We arrived late at night in Udaipur but got up early to go on a Tuk Tuk Tour to a garden and then to the lake on which we did a boat tour. Later, some of us visited a Hindi temple and went strolling along the many streets filled with shops selling cloth, handicraft or souvenirs. We got to see a lot of every day life scenes again which was really nice.Read more

  • Udaipur - Oh, the romance!

    April 9, 2018 in India ⋅ 🌙 34 °C

In the evening we went to a beautifully situated restaurant where we had delicious food and cocktails. I had my first Gimlet which I really liked. Now I am trying to find lime cordial in Indonesia... so far without luck. However, the atmosphere was as romantic as it looks and it's not a surprise that Udaipur is also known to be called "the beauty".Read more

  • Arriving in Bundi

    April 10, 2018 in India ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

After another long day on the bus we finally reached Bundi where we slept in large and sort of luxerious tents next to a lake. The atmosphere in the evening was beautiful and peaceful and we were all able to relax over a pint or a cup of tea. After dinner a group of traditional singers and dancers performed, some of us even joined them in their dance.Read more

  • Bundi - During the day

    April 11, 2018 in India ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

We only did went on a one-hour walk through Bundi, but there was so much to see (hence the three posts): guesthouses, temples, vendors, traidesmen - and women, cows, it seemed to me as quite the hippi town :-)Read more

  • Passing through Kota

    April 11, 2018 in India ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

From Bundi, we went straight to Kota where we had to hide from the rain. We still go to see replica of the 8 modern world wonders (you can guess by the number of photos in this post how impressed I was by them…) and went for a stroll in the market area. Now THIS was interesting. So colourful, loud, smelly… very stereotypically Indian I guess. I’ll post some videos as well as they tell the story better than the photos. From the market we went to a restaurant where we were once again served excellent food and from there to the train station, where we wanted to take the night train to Mumbai...Read more

  • Mumbai - Trip to Elephanta Island

    April 12, 2018 in India ⋅ 🌬 32 °C

We spend a lot of time at Kota train station after our train was delayed. The train ride itself was quite nice, but we arrived at 12:30 instead of 9:00 as planned. The city tour was then postponed to the next day, and we went to explore Elefanta island, an island which is known for it ancient Hindu temple. I prefered taking photos of the ships though... I had missed one of my favorite motif.Read more

  • Mumbai - The last day...

    April 13, 2018 in India ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

On our last day, we went on a city tour with our new guide Prakash and saw all of the famous landmarks most of which I already knew which is why there's not photos of them. You do see the well-known place at the border of a slum where most of the city's laundry gets washed and ironed before it will mysteriously return to their owners. I was the first to head to the airport and thus got to see the cities skyline at the time of the sunset. A beautiful way to say goodbye...Read more
