    The old town of Bern is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and thanks to its 6 kilometres of arcades - the locals refer to them as 'Lauben' - boasts one of the longest weather-sheltered shopping promenades in Europe.
    Bern, the capital city of Switzerland, is built around a crook in the Aare River. It traces its origins back to the 12th century, with medieval architecture preserved in the Altstadt (Old Town).

  • The Clocktower in Bern

    The Zytglogge is a landmark medieval tower in Bern. Built in the early 13th century, it has served the city as guard tower, prison, clock tower, centre of urban life and a civic memorial.

    Despite the many redecorations and renovations it has undergone in its 800 years of existence, the Zytglogge is one of Bern's most recognisable symbols and, with its 15th-century astronomical clock, a major tourist attraction. It is a heritage site of national significance.Read more

  • Bern Munster

    The Bern Munster is a Swiss Reformed cathedral, in the old city of Bern, Switzerland. Built in the Gothic style, its construction started in 1421. Its100.6 m tower was only completed in 1893. It is the tallest cathedral in Switzerland and is a Cultural Property of National Significance.

    Over the main portal is one of the most complete Late Gothic sculpture collections in Europe. This collection represents the Christian belief in a Last Judgment where the wicked will be separated from the righteous. This sculpture shows the wicked naked on the right, while the righteous stand clothed in white on the left. In the center is Justice, with Saints and the wise and foolish virgins around her. In the centre stands Michael the Archangel with a raised sword.

    The 2.3km walk into the city takes us under the Viaduct which now carries trains; a wonderful suburban park with a variety of playing fields including beach volleyball; several plazas all with their own "feel" and sculptures; a marijuana store; and the Zurich Museum built in 1898 which looks like a French Chateau.Read more

  • 2018 Distinguished Gentlemens' Ride

    "On Sunday the 30th of September, we will don our finest attire with our fellow men and women across the globe to join the fight with The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride to raise awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health." 487 riders rode through the old town and across the bridge to the square below the Grossmunster.
    Amazing machines, guys and girls dressed to the nines and a whole lotta noise and fun in the city today.

    The Lindenhof is a moraine hill and a public square in the historic center of Zürich. The tree-covered park has wonderful views to the River Limmat, the Lake Zurich and to the Niederdorf. It's a steep walk up and a steep walk down, but well worth the effort.Read more
