• Shashlik and bread/ayran production

    After arriving in Khiva, we stopped to have a shashlik in one of the eateries in the city center. Next to us, a man was kneading and baking the typical local bread, while the women prepared ayran by passing the milk through a mix of herbs over and over again.

    The bread was very good (though not as good as in Bukhara and Samarkand), while the ayran had a very strong taste, and we couldn’t manage to drink it.
