Soaking up the jungle

Forest foods and medicine were the focus of our morning walk with the guides. We were in awe of their knowledge.

On the evening of day 2, we explored the river, then and slept in cosy tents.

Very early the next morning, we floated down the river, spotting a few birds.

As we returned back to the starting village, the wholeness of the jungle and the clarity of the river changed dramatically. A mining operation located on an offshoot of the river made everything downstream muddy. Farming, forestry, homesteads and other forest uses denuded the hills.
