    Bhalil, cave town

    Bhalil is a town known for its caves. Millions of years ago, water travelled in this area, carving caves in the limestone. Locals have used these caves for hundreds of years as homes and storage spaces. Apparently there are more than 500 caves, well blended into the town’s streets. Today most are used as shops and even some guest houses.

    We stayed at a guest house cave where Thami's grandparents used to live. It was half modern, half cave. Very interesting place. However, being a cave, it was cold and damp!

    In the afternoons Aaron and the boys played football. Each ball, it seems, has a homing device calling the local boys to immediately flock to the game. There were always players wanting to participate!
