Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi

    7. Januar 2020 in Vietnam ⋅ 34 °C

I arrived in Ho Chi Minh City and began my search for a motorcycle. After a few days of shopping I decided on a brand new Detech Espero 110cc. It was a small bike but they are all small there. It would get the job done. It cost $600 but I had a layover in Las Vegas on my way to Vietnam. I netted and extra $1000 dollars in Vegas so it made it a little easier to splurge on a new bike. Once I had the bike I was on my way out of Ho Chi Minh City the next morning very early to avoid the crazy traffic. On to Cat Tein, Mui Ne, Hoi An, Khe Sahn, Phong Nah, Da Nang, Ninh Binh, and Hanoi. Unfortunately my phone kicked the bucket along the way and I lost some of the photos. Over 2000 km's and I sold the bike when I was done for $550.Weiterlesen

  • Bohol, Philippines Feb. 8th-15th

    8. Februar 2020 auf den Philippinen

Next up was my return to the Philippines. From Hanoi, Vietnam I took a flight to Manilla. I had one connection in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore. The next day I flew to the island of Bohol. I spent two nights at the Spinning Cat Hostel before renting a Honda XR 150 and driving to the other side of the island to One Peace Guest House. This spot was located at Anda Beach. The hostel had its own private beach where there was great snorkeling and many actitvties near by. Including hiking Alicia Panoramic Park and a few local swimming holes. I stayed there until the 15th before heading to Siargao via a boat to Cebu, a flight to Surigao, and another boat to finally make it to Siargao.Weiterlesen

  • Niwella, Sri Lanka Mar. 11th-May 25th

    11. März 2020 in Sri Lanka

I found myself at White Peacock Hostel will the world was shutting down becasue of Covid. I was surfing almost everyday at HIriketiya beach and enjoying the sun. Towards the end of March we started having weekend long lockdowns which eventually turned into everyday. During the lockdowns we decided to build a mud oven, as we only had a two burner stove, to start baking bread, roasting chicken, and making pizzas. To create the oven we first had to break down a abandoned termite hill. We then broke that into a fine dust to mix it with sand. We added water to create a clay which we used to create the inside layer of the oven. After a few days of drying we added an outer layer made of dirt, sand, and grass. After a week of drying we removed the inner filler and fired the oven dry. Next we needed some wood for a cooking fire. We had a axe head but no handle. I shaped an old table leg until the axe head fit it porperly. There was one dead tree on the porperty which we cut down, sawed into logs, and split very pain stakingly. Finally we were able to start cooking some great food. Towards the middle of April things started to open up a little but it was not until the end of May when they decided to allow you to move to other districts. At that point I decided I was ready to return to the U.S. I took a manadatory private shuttle to the Colombo International Airport. Then a flight to London where Heathrow was a ghost town. Then a 747 to Waashington D.C. with only 9 people aboard.Weiterlesen
