  • Food Market

    May 31, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 82 °F

We hit a large food market tonight and gave the students money to buy their own dinner. Of course, I saw one of them eating a bag of chips and another ordering ice cream. It was not quite the adventure I was hoping it would be for the students. But my colleague and I had a great time...2 Thai iced teas, 2 fresh mandarin juices, 1 mango sticky rice, and 1 large Nutella banana crepe. $6.47 for the two of us.Read more

  • Beach Time!

    June 1, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 82 °F

After a long drive down south we are finally at our next stop which is on the beach. Students got a little beach time in the evening, which is great because it was not so hot. It is not Thailand's most beautiful beach, but it was a nice time.Read more

  • Mushroom Farming

    June 2, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 91 °F

The students are at a very rural family farm where they produce mushrooms. Right now, in town, they can get 100 baht per kilogram, which is a bit less than three dollars for 2.2 pounds. The students prepared the soil out of multiple substances, then they prepped the bags, and then they dealt with the mushroom spores. Of course, there was a great taste testing.Read more

  • Walking Street

    June 2, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 84 °F

Every Friday and Saturday in this town there is a walking street, and it is full of delicious food, cute clothing, etc. Here are some pics. By the way, this was dinner tonight… Each student got 200 baht and they could pick out what they wanted to eat. 200 baht buys a lot of food in this market. I had pork stuffed dumplings, a dark chocolate chip waffle, and mandarin orange juice. All that probably cost me 60 baht (less than $2).Read more

  • Weekend Market

    June 4, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 91 °F

We were fortunate to be in Bangkok on the weekend because there is a humongous market that is just indescribable. You can buy anything from underwear to multi thousand dollar wooden tables. It's a really good time but can be overwhelming. My colleague and I are heading to Singapore, so we cannot have much luggage. Instead of shopping we hit the massages and had a one hour foot massage for seven dollars and a one hour Thai massage for nine dollars. One interesting portion of the market is the pet market. People buy everything from lizards to large turtles to chipmunks as pets. Also pot plants lol.Read more
