We arrived at Good Times Resort and were so warmly greeted. Our host, Chalee, then surprised the students with dinner and dancing on her friend’s party barge. It was a great time!

Chinese temple

We visited the most stunning Chinese temple. But interestingly, it borders a Thai temple. We climbed up to the top and the views of the rice fields are incredible.

Cemeteries

We visited both Thai and Chinese cemeteries for comparisons. Thais are cremated and ashes are buried.
Tilapia farming

POW cemetery

Students studied the history of the Thai/Burma railroad built during WW2 by POWs worked to death. There bodies are buried in three immaculate cemeteries in Kanchanaburi.
Famous bridge on the river Kwai

More WW2 history...this is the famous bride on the river Kwai. But the real pronunciation is like Kway. The movie changed it...and it was incredibly inaccurate. Your students can tell you why.
Eating some bugs

At a rest stop we found a woman pressing dried squid. She hangs them to dry out.

Just enjoyed a little time on the Gulf. The fishing boats add a nice touch. A local woman was digging for clams for her dinner.
National park

We visited another national park but could only get there by boat. Students climbed up the mountain to the top.
Fishing village

We are in a fishing village on the Gulf of Thailand. The fishermen leave early and have already returned (by noon). You see lots if crab pots in the canals.
Lunch on the canal

A local shrimp farm

Why did the monkey cross the road?

As we were leaving the canal, we came across the monkeys, who were all over the road.
Sorting shrimp

We randomly passed a station where workers were sorting shrimp into different sizes, since larger ones fetch a better price per kilogram.
