Today the goal was to start from Du Già early and go towards the canyon to end our day there, through some beautiful morning mountain views and amazing to drive roads.
First though we had to clear our room from some unwanted six-legged friend, but after a bit of a struggle Melanie managed to rescue him.
The good music chosen by DJ Mel managed to keep up the mood for the whole day!

Ha Giang Loop Day 2: Cruising and good Meal

We reached a wide mountain range with a very large and mostly straight road, good for cruising! Then in search for a place to have lunch we mistakenly passed in front of it and had to backtrack 15 minutes, it was worth the stop, an inexpensive meal that was soo much food that it lasted us also as dinner when we arrived in the homestay. The view was really great!

Ha Giang Loop Day 2: down to the canyon and boat

After a small afternoon break for a mango smoothie and a coke zero, we started descending down to the river that creates a lake, the road was very twisty but amazing to drive.
We were worried that our gas tank was too empty (when going downhill it showed always full and when going uphill it immediately went to almost empty) but we made it up the canyon and steep road again fortunately.
The boat ride was cool and the lake was very nice but nothing special, the view from above was definitely much more interesting.

Ha Giang Loop Day 2: rushing to town before dark

This streach of road was amazing, probably one of the best in the whole loop, unfortunately we spent a little too much time during the day chilling at coffee places and during lunch and the sun was going down fast when we were there. We had to rush it a bit too much but as a silver lining the sunset lights gave the panorama a very cool vibe.
Questionable selfies aside, I won again but Mel didn't want to show it...

Ha Giang Loop Day 2: Ma Pì Lang Pass

Even with the dark coming, we had to make a small detour and checkout the Ma Pì Lang Pass, a sketchy road with a vertical drop on the side and the sunset light made this adventure even more memorable.

Ha Giang Loop Day 3: H'mong King's palace

Today we stopped at the H'mong King's palace (which is not much more than an old wooden house for European standards, but I guess for South East Asian standards it's a really nice house) but before reaching there we encountered the craziest lorry horn we have ever heard: it seemed straight out of a lonely toons cartoon.
After the palace a nice rock formation easy to climb in flip flops and some funny selfies.
Then the road became off road for a bit before improving enough for us to put on some music.
Little copy of the Stelvio pass and some more Rock Paper Scissor

Ha Giang Loop Day 3: animals and shortcut

Since the sun was already going down and the rain was coming we decided to take a shortcut through a very high mountain pass, had to avoid some lorries going downhill with flimsy brakes and putting on the Spice Girls seemed the right thing to do.
Some alive water buffalo with big horns on the road and some less alive pigs on the back of motorbikes.
The sunset was very cool with all of the clouds but then we had to do the last half an hour in the dark to reach our homestay.Läs mer

Ha Giang Loop Day 4: waterfall, rain and cave

Today we started early in the morning in order to check out what seemed to be a nice waterfall but we had to downclimb a bit to reach it. It was a bit rainy so we decided not to jump in the pool.
Then it started pouring but we continued towards a cave, the road was a bit sketchy, steep and very narrow but it was a fun adventure for sure!
Someone stole the dragon fountain unfortunately but we still had the chance to take our well earned coke zero and semi-melted ice cream.Läs mer

We decided to take a small detour to a waterfall (it turned out to be more than two hours and a really long hike downwards, which later became upwards...) at least we were refreshed by the rain.

A few more rice fields and a viewpoint later we reached Hà Giang city! Completed the loop and survived without problems! I guess I have a career as a vietnamese easy-rider if I want, even though I think most of the credit must be given to our little Honda Blade 110cc that never failed on us.

We spend the last two days in Hanoi doing some chores and shopping for small gifts, went for sunset and did some walks along the lake area (almost impossible anywhere else since there are motorbikes everywhere)
