We got through both train journeys with no mishaps or delays for the first time ever. We had our dinner in the airport lounge which was amazing. Red Thai Curry & Noodles. Our next stop is Rwanda.

Flight one done and it was the best flight ever snd now we’ve touched down in Rwanda and we’re chilling in the lounge for 2 hours before flight 2 and South Africa

A great stop in Rwanda for 2 hours with great treatment. Then we had to board the smaller plane for 4 hours and get to South Africa.

Leaving Bushman’s Rock at just got 8am. The car is fully loaded and we can’t wait to get it sorted and unloaded. First stop is for food and then to Tyremart in Pretoria to get new tyres.

It took us 6 1/2 hours at 120kph to get here and we had some sketchy moments passing the Lorry’s that can only do 70kph but we’ve made it.

After a great nights sleep if nearly 9 hours we were woken up by the cockerels and ducks. Once we emerged from the tent we were greeted by the fallow deer, alpacas and then a very lovely cat.

The Kalahari Mall

Our first stop of the day was Upington and the Kalahari Mall where we stocked up in supplies for tomorrow and grabbed some last minute bits before our border crossing tomorrow.

Leaving South Africa - Customs

It was a 130km drive taking nearly 2 hours on a road that was as straight as an arrow all the way to customs.

After another 90 minutes of driving the road ran out and we hit the gravel and aired the tyres down. We still haven’t seen another car. This country is just vast and full of nothing.
The Canyon Road House

At 4pm we finally reached our campsite at the Canyon road house. It’s a really quirky little place and our camp is completely unfenced and beautiful.

The Richterveld Transfrontier Park

This morning we were up early and took a drive to fish river canyon. This is situated in the richtersveld National park and we had to pay an entry fee of £27.

The drive to Fish river canyon didn’t take too long. This is the 3rd largest canyon in the world and the views were spectacular. From here we took a 5km hike to the next viewpoint before returningLäs mer
