  • Weekend trip to Seattle

    April 25, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 6 °C

Just spent hours in the outlet stores...actually the first time that shopping clothes was fun! Especially in the Victorinox store.
Next goal will be a visit of the first ever Starbucks.
More pictures of Seattle will follow...Read more

  • A joyless last experience...

    April 26, 2015 in Canada ⋅ 🌧 10 °C

What a great weekend in Seattle with the buddies! :-)
But at the end of the day something joyless happened. We went to a restaurant and parked our car at the close antique shop. When we came back after an hour or so, our car was towed. To get it back, we had to pay 440$ (!). This is fraud at its finest! Moreover, unbelievable how rude and aggressive the guy there was!
You can see the name of the company in the picture. When you are in Seattle, be cautious where to park your car. Don't give these thieves any more dollars!

  • Ristorante "Via Tevere"

    April 28, 2015 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

It's about time to eat Italian style pizza in the best pizzeria of the city.
After an unsuccessful attempt around 2 months ago (waiting line was about 2 hours, they don't take reservations), I was lucky today when I spontaneously decided with my Ticino-friend to have dinner there. First time I saw someone eating two (!) pizzas.
And we were not disappointed, the pizza was awesome! And the Menabrea beer was so much better than Moretti or Peroni!

  • Lynn Canyon Park

    May 3, 2015 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

Just hiking around a little bit here in North Vancouver. There was no real "canyon", but it was a nice stroll through a beautiful forest.

  • MLS: Whitecaps versus Philly

    May 9, 2015 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

I was at a soccer match today (Major League Soccer) and really surprised about the high level. It's comparable to the Swiss Super League.
First half really rocked, with a lot of chances.
Result: Vancouver Whitecaps vs Philadelphia Union 3:0Read more

  • Ristorante Ludica

    May 11, 2015 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Not the best pizza, but a very good one....and lots of board games to choose from. Just saw this in a bar here, but never in a restaurant. It's nice, couples and whole families usually eat first and then play board games together. :-)Read more

  • Shopping and dining

    May 17, 2015 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

After spending a fortune in the local "Icebreaker" store buying Merino wool t-shirts and socks, I take a break in Sophie's Cosmic Cafe, eating comfort food.... :-)

    Hiking?? Me?!? Hell no!
That's what I usually might answer to a question like "how about hiking today?", accompanied with a good laugh.
But this time, it was my own idea. It might be because I had problems finding suitable shirts last time when I was in a clothing store..... However, I feel the need to do more exercises (ok I admit the Donut store in the second picture might not help....). Anyway, that was a good and exhausting start.Read more

  • Yaletown / Gastown

    May 23, 2015 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

First we got a tour in Yaletown (thank you, Jan) which looks a little bit like some parts of Züri West and had dinner there.
Then we went to an Escape Room Entertainment game in Gastown. We have been locked and had a limited time to escape, finding logical clues like keys (to unlock doors) or number combinations. At the end we almost did it, but we weren't able to find the 4 digit number to unlock the very last combination lock! It was exciting and four other rooms/stories are still waiting to be explored!Read more

    Vegetarian fair in Vancouver.
A little bit too hippie/alternative style, but nevertheless interesting. I bought Truffles without milk, without GMO, without soy, without chocolate......oh wait! There IS chocolate in it! ;-). They are absolutely delicious! Ate also some of the best Samosas I've ever had. :-)Read more

  • FIFA Women's World Cup 2015: soon!

    June 3, 2015 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Besides all negative headlines of FIFA nowadays, the women's World Cup is starting in just 3 days and I'm over the moon to have tickets for both Swiss matches here in Vancouver against world champion Japan and also against Ecuador! More about this in my exam week, next week.Read more

  • World Cup: Japan-Switzerland

    June 8, 2015 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Come on girls! Let's beat World Champion Japan! ;-)

OK probably the chances weren't that high. But the Swiss team delivered a fantastic performance, despite of the 1:0 victory of Japan.

  • Japan-Cameroon 2:1

    June 12, 2015 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

An extraordinary evening for me as I saw my favourite player Aya Sameshima live on the pitch for the first time.
But the cream on the crop happened when I accidentally met Aya's parents in the stadium and asked them for a photo. At the end of the match I took some more photos of her giving autographs and my friend Chris was even lucky enough to get a selfie with her. :-)
    Best day here in Vancouver.
