    Lots of travelling!

    July 17, 2023 in England ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Hi everyone, after 3 days of travelling, we are now on the west coast of Denmark. The weather has been kind, just a few showers this morning. Netherlands with its thatched houses was lovely, the part of Germany we went through was like the fens! Caught a ferry across the Elbe estuary to avoid Hamburg! Now back to delightful villages in Denmark. Ferry to norway tomorrow evening.Read more

  • Denmark

    July 20, 2023 in Denmark ⋅ 🌬 16 °C

Had the day driving through denmark. Very pretty villages and churches. Stopped at lighthouse before ferry and went round the war bunkers. Weather was very windy but the ferry was actually OK.

  • Waking up to Norway

    July 21, 2023 in Norway ⋅ 🌬 17 °C

Wow that's all I can say! Waking up to a beautiful sight from our motorhome stop. Did a hike around the headland with a bit of rock climbing before continuing driving along the coastline.

  • Southernmost part of Norway

    July 22, 2023 in Norway ⋅ 🌬 16 °C

Spent the night in a delightful village called Farestad. Another hike in morning (this is now the pattern) admiring the boat houses with their own moorings. Then stopping for the afternoon at a lighthouse. Everywhere is so scenic. However the cows didn't want us to leave and blocked our path until a local came a pushed them out of the way!Read more

  • Heading inland

    July 23, 2023 in Norway ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

After a couple of days on the coast we decided to start to travel inland stopping by the fjordsfor lunch and coffee. Not many roads suitable for campervans so it was either a 14km tunnel under the sea or a small ferry crossing , we chose the ferry.Read more

  • Stunning scenery

    July 24, 2023 in Norway ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

  • Waterfalls

    July 25, 2023 in Norway ⋅ 🌧 11 °C

Cloudy day for our journey today but soon cheered up when we saw the waterfalls. Lots of tunnels on our trip today as well. Now got to an area where there are loads of motorhomes, campervans and caravans. The roads are so narrow in places and we even had to have an escort round the lanes.Read more

  • More waterfalls!

    July 26, 2023 in Norway ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

Woke up to a lovely sunny day. What a difference. Now moving north and up the mountain roads. And more waterfalls........also a first for us, a roundabout in the tunnel!

  • Steep mountain roads

    July 27, 2023 in Norway ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Off up the mountains after another trip on a ferry on the steep zig zag roads to the view point. Came across three traffic jams, first were sheep, the second goats, and third cows! Poor Mark had a lot to contend with on these narrow roads!Read more

  • Briksdal glacier

    July 28, 2023 in Norway ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

Amazing day. Hiked up to the briksdal glacier alongside fast flowing glacial river and waterfalls (10,000 litres per second) quite a steep climb good job it was only about 5km there and a harder 5km route coming down. But well worth it!Read more

  • Lighthouse fishing

    July 29, 2023 in Norway ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

After all the hiking we decided to go to the coast for a spot of fishing and relaxation. We headed to a remote lighthouse we read about. Very scenic drive and again scary in places. However when we arrived, there were several other people with the same idea and to watch the sunset! Our German neighbour informed us that he had caught a mackerel for his breakfast that morning which prompted mark to have a try! About 11pm Mark returned with a carrier bag full of mackerel and had returned several others to the sea. Beautiful sunset that evening too!Read more

  • Ye old harbour

    July 30, 2023 in Norway ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

After an hour gutting the mackeral and a walk to the lighthouse we shared our fish bounty with the fellow campers who were pleased to receive them after filling our freezer to maximum capacity. A lunch stop at another fjord for our first brunch. Onto a harbour where we met the local lads who were fishing. Later in the evening one of them appeared with a large pollack for us, but we declined the bag of mackerel.Read more

  • Lazy day

    July 31, 2023 in Norway ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Decided to stay put for a change and relax instead of driving on. Quick fish in the morning which resulted in catching a nice cod easily sufficient for lunch. It was delicious. After another stroll we returned to be joined by a young German family. After sitting out in the sun listening to england win the cricket another session of fishing took place 🙈
This evening session resulted in another nice size cod given to the neighbours and in addition a lovely dinner size halibut. Marks first ever halibut. I even caught 2 mackerel which the neighbours had. Just as mark was clearing up he rounded the evening off with fresh squid.

Spent the day on the Atlantic Ocean road . Motorhomes and campervans everywhere! Completely different from the mountains. Found a space to park and did a walk over the large boulders. Very scenic. Cooked our halibut. Delicious 😋 also but not 100% thought we could see whales in the distance! Will never know!Read more

  • Tapas and coffee

    August 10, 2023 in Sweden ⋅ 🌧 15 °C

Travelling through Sweden, which is like a great big forest. When we do see a field there is often a pair of cranes. Still looking for a bear, moose or elk😂🤣 decided to go for a walk at a nature reserve crossing three bridges over three rivers! First one was fine but the second swing bridge was immersed in water and we were unsure whether the tide was coming in or out so we abandoned that part of the trek as we could be stranded for days! However we did find a nice shelter with bbq and supplies of chopped logs. Stopped at a small harbour and actually treated ourselves to coffee and tapas overlooking the water. Lovely.Read more

  • Driving through sweden

    August 12, 2023 in Sweden ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C
