    Lots of travelling!

    17 juillet 2023, Angleterre ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Hi everyone, after 3 days of travelling, we are now on the west coast of Denmark. The weather has been kind, just a few showers this morning. Netherlands with its thatched houses was lovely, the part of Germany we went through was like the fens! Caught a ferry across the Elbe estuary to avoid Hamburg! Now back to delightful villages in Denmark. Ferry to norway tomorrow evening.En savoir plus

  • Denmark

    20 juillet 2023, Danemark ⋅ 🌬 16 °C

Had the day driving through denmark. Very pretty villages and churches. Stopped at lighthouse before ferry and went round the war bunkers. Weather was very windy but the ferry was actually OK.

  • Southernmost part of Norway

    22 juillet 2023, Norvège ⋅ 🌬 16 °C

Spent the night in a delightful village called Farestad. Another hike in morning (this is now the pattern) admiring the boat houses with their own moorings. Then stopping for the afternoon at a lighthouse. Everywhere is so scenic. However the cows didn't want us to leave and blocked our path until a local came a pushed them out of the way!En savoir plus

  • Heading inland

    23 juillet 2023, Norvège ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

After a couple of days on the coast we decided to start to travel inland stopping by the fjordsfor lunch and coffee. Not many roads suitable for campervans so it was either a 14km tunnel under the sea or a small ferry crossing , we chose the ferry.En savoir plus

  • Waterfalls

    25 juillet 2023, Norvège ⋅ 🌧 11 °C

Cloudy day for our journey today but soon cheered up when we saw the waterfalls. Lots of tunnels on our trip today as well. Now got to an area where there are loads of motorhomes, campervans and caravans. The roads are so narrow in places and we even had to have an escort round the lanes.En savoir plus

  • Loen skylift

    28 juillet 2023, Norvège ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

After a well deserved coffee we headed for the loen skylift a few km away. Another amazing place and some very adventurous people! After the skylift we carried on hiking to the top! Beautiful views! Mark got fed up with walking and took the easy way down!En savoir plus

  • Lighthouse fishing

    29 juillet 2023, Norvège ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

After all the hiking we decided to go to the coast for a spot of fishing and relaxation. We headed to a remote lighthouse we read about. Very scenic drive and again scary in places. However when we arrived, there were several other people with the same idea and to watch the sunset! Our German neighbour informed us that he had caught a mackerel for his breakfast that morning which prompted mark to have a try! About 11pm Mark returned with a carrier bag full of mackerel and had returned several others to the sea. Beautiful sunset that evening too!En savoir plus

  • Ye old harbour

    30 juillet 2023, Norvège ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

After an hour gutting the mackeral and a walk to the lighthouse we shared our fish bounty with the fellow campers who were pleased to receive them after filling our freezer to maximum capacity. A lunch stop at another fjord for our first brunch. Onto a harbour where we met the local lads who were fishing. Later in the evening one of them appeared with a large pollack for us, but we declined the bag of mackerel.En savoir plus

  • Lazy day

    31 juillet 2023, Norvège ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Decided to stay put for a change and relax instead of driving on. Quick fish in the morning which resulted in catching a nice cod easily sufficient for lunch. It was delicious. After another stroll we returned to be joined by a young German family. After sitting out in the sun listening to england win the cricket another session of fishing took place 🙈
This evening session resulted in another nice size cod given to the neighbours and in addition a lovely dinner size halibut. Marks first ever halibut. I even caught 2 mackerel which the neighbours had. Just as mark was clearing up he rounded the evening off with fresh squid.

  • Atlantic Ocean road

    1 août 2023, Norvège ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Spent the day on the Atlantic Ocean road . Motorhomes and campervans everywhere! Completely different from the mountains. Found a space to park and did a walk over the large boulders. Very scenic. Cooked our halibut. Delicious 😋 also but not 100% thought we could see whales in the distance! Will never know!En savoir plus

  • Coastal road

    2 août 2023, Norvège ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Carried on the coastal road, stopping at scenic sights. Had chilli squid for lunch looking over a fjord. Got another ferry, spotless.

  • Finding fishing spots

    5 août 2023, Norvège ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

Couple of days stopping off at fishing spots as our fish supplies are dwindling! Came across several lovely waterfalls on route. Swedish campers brought us some Swedish delicacy to try. Crisps, sauce and fish roe! Very nice of them. Then sat watching dolphins in the fjord!En savoir plus

  • Leaving norway

    7 août 2023, Norvège ⋅ 🌧 14 °C

Heard on news there's a storm brewing south norway so decided the day has come to leave and head home 😢on route to Sweden we passed some more amazing waterfalls and came across the bear signs!

  • Into Sweden

    8 août 2023, Suède ⋅ 🌧 22 °C

So sad to leave norway but let's see what sweden has to offer! Found this lovely waterfall. The lad fishing in video has just been to alaska with his dad and caught 200 salmon. Guess we are going on our next holiday 🤣😂another shelter with firepit and wood.En savoir plus

  • Tapas and coffee

    10 août 2023, Suède ⋅ 🌧 15 °C

Travelling through Sweden, which is like a great big forest. When we do see a field there is often a pair of cranes. Still looking for a bear, moose or elk😂🤣 decided to go for a walk at a nature reserve crossing three bridges over three rivers! First one was fine but the second swing bridge was immersed in water and we were unsure whether the tide was coming in or out so we abandoned that part of the trek as we could be stranded for days! However we did find a nice shelter with bbq and supplies of chopped logs. Stopped at a small harbour and actually treated ourselves to coffee and tapas overlooking the water. Lovely.En savoir plus
