Ah, Venice!

We had an uneventful trip out here - in fact, we got through Heathrow so fast we could have made the earlier Venice connection that I thought there was no chance of making (I asked, they wouldn't let us on, haha).

Venice is gorgeous and our hotel was right at the second Alilaguna stop from the airport.

Had to get some gelato and a quick view of the Rialto Bridge before bed. Gelato may have been dinner. Maybe.

I absolutely love this hotel. Right by the Alilaguna/vaporetto stop Fte Nove.

Comfy beds, delicious breakfast, and delightful staff.

They warned us about a transportation strike tomorrow which is a bummer.Read more

Libreria Acqua Alta

This delightful bookstore features book steps, cats, and gondolas full of books.

We met the nicest lady who took our picture and as I could understand is a poet. She was very taken with Éowyn and took some pictures of her with the cat. She also insisted on getting a picture with her.

Update: She is a poet and a native Venetian. I found her online. I'm trying to find her contact info to send her the pic.

On the Way to Burano

It's about a 40 minute vaporetto ride to Burano, the lace making island. We saw some cheerful string of boats and some swans on the way.

Burano Streets

The story is that the houses are painted brightly to guide their fisherman home through the lagoon on foggy days. No fog here today, though!

We had a one legged pigeon that really wanted our pizza at lunch.

I could spend all day here just taking in the water against the bright homes with the backdrop of the cerulean skies!Read more
