It's about a 40 minute vaporetto ride to Burano, the lace making island. We saw some cheerful string of boats and some swans on the way.
There are swans in the lagoon. Their crazy one even looked at my mom and angrily honked at her. And I hope to see more swans.
The story is that the houses are painted brightly to guide their fisherman home through the lagoon on foggy days. No fog here today, though!

These huge swans like to hang out and add to the ambiance in the Burano canals.
I will always take pictures when you do this so don't act surprised.
