    Sisteron

    September 1, 2016 in France ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

After 370 km on the motorbike I arrived in the beautiful town of Sisteron. It took me much longer to go to Aix-les-Bains so I decided to take the highway to Grenoble. This saved me so much time that I could enjoy the little mountain roads that followed and did some sightseeing in Sisteron. This was absolutely worth it. Unfortunately, the citadel was already closed.Read more

  • Corsica Ferry

    September 2, 2016 in France ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

After a spectacular ride down from Sisteron to Nice I took the ferry over to Bastia. I was a bit excited whether I will manage to drive on and in the ferry but all went well and I relaxed over the 6 hour passage.Read more

  • Bastia

    September 3, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Our first day on Corsica was in the city of Bastia. While the first impression might be misleading, Bastia has its charm and after a day walking the city you will enjoy it a lot. Relaxing at the old harbour or watching people passing by from the terrace of a bistro let you enter into vacation mood.Read more

  • St. Florent

    September 4, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Day 2 consisted of a fantastic motorbike ride around Cap Corse and a relaxing afternoon at the beach and in the city of St. Florent. The ride through the northern part of Corsica was a real highlight for the motorbike enthusiast. Great roads just along the coast line with stunning views and exciting turns. And afterwards we enjoyed a swim in the sea and great dinner in town. The marina of St. Florent seems more posh than Bastia according to the size of the yachts.Read more

  • Calvi

    September 5, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Our third day on Corsica took us along the northern coast to Calvi. I don't need to talk another time about the great road along the coast line which is just a lot of fun with the motorbike. But Calvi is certainly worth a few words. The bay looks like I the Caribbean with wonderful sandy beaches and crystal clear blue water. It's outside the main season but it's still hot so there were not many people at the beach and we had a perfect swim in the Mediterranean. Calvi itself is simply cute. Tiny little restaurants and bars everywhere and a wonderful atmosphere of simply enjoying life.Read more

  • Corte

    September 8, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

We spend two days in Corte in the mountains. The initial plan was to go hiking but yesterday it was raining and the temperature dropped by 20°C. So we just went around with the motorbike and discovered the area and the romantic Restonica valley on two wheels. Corte itself is very nice with an impressive citadel about 100m above the lower city. Plenty of old houses lean against the citadel hill so that they make a very compact, picturesque arrangement.Read more

  • Porto

    September 9, 2016 in France ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

After a long drive trough mountain roads you suddenly end up at the ocean in Porto Ota. It's really surprising since there is only a tiny little bay surrounded by high rocks. Porto itself is cute despite being a bit touristic. The marina is a good place for dinner and to start a boat cruise to the famous red rocks and caves of the coast line.Read more

  • Ajaccio

    September 9, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

The last day on Corsica led us to Ajaccio. While the town doesn't seem so charming or interesting as the other places we've visited, the way down the west coast was amazing. We passed by several dream beaches and stopped for a swim at Arone beach. The little bay and it's beach was absolutely breathtaking and the water clear, calm and warm. Luckily the road is small and remote from the usual tourist paths so the beach was nearly empty.Read more

  • Savigliano

    September 10, 2016 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Early morning I said goodbye to Corsica. After a six hour ferry ride back to Nice I decided to took a little mountain road over the Col de la Lombard. I did my first high alps pass and I believe i did quite well! Now I am on the way back to Eysins south of Turin in Savigliano. This little town in northern Piemonte was a pleasant surprise with its lovely center and a lot of historic buildings.

Tomorrow I well enjoy another pass before I enter Switzerland again... As always, vacation was too short but Corsica really deserves a second visit.
