• Day 18

    Departure

    February 22 in Guatemala ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

It was time to say good bye to our wonderful Guatemala tour. We left the central highlands after breakfast in direction Guatemala City. Mostly a travel day, but with one more card up our sleeves. We made one more stop in the dry forest where we knew to have a chance on Banded Wrens. Just after getting out of the car we heard the first one sing across the ravine. Soon after a pair hoped up on some bushes right in front of us and we got wonderful views of this beautiful species. Also a Nuttings-, and Ash-throated Flycatcher readily came in and gave us quite the headache trying to figure out who was who. That and the call of a Lesser Ground Cuckoo made up for a wonderful morning before heading back to the city.

And just like that a wonderful Guatemala tour comes to an end. We extensively toured the country, through lots of different climate zones and environments. Gathering up over 370 species of birds and lots of other wildlife. A huge thank you to all of the participants for being such a wonderful group! It was a true pleasure to guide you through Guatemala in search of its birds.
