    Interesting changes

    November 5, 2018 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

Well originally we were supposed to go to Boston, New York, Port Canaveral then Miami. But because of the bad weather in the Atlantic, our route was changed to Bruges, Le Havre, Madiera then Miami.
Now they have sussed a route out which takes us to Gran Canaria, Coco Cay, Port Canaveral, then Miami. Only problem is that each change disappoints or pleases different people, so in other words the company can't win, they're damned if they do and damned if they don't.
Anyway to be honest, the changes don't bother Sheila or me.

The other thing that has upset all the Diamond plus guests is that due to the number on board they are not allowed in the concierge lounge, so poor Nadja has had a steady stream of complaints. This is building up to be a very interesting cruise.

    And we're off.

    April 20, 2018 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

The Emirates flight from Manchester to Dubai, was ok and uneventful, except for the father of the family in front of us trying to steal our Joe's colouring books and pencils.
It had slid under his seat, and instead of asking who they belonged to, he put them in his bag in the overhead locker. Anyway when Nicola asked him if he had seen them he said he'd put them in the overhead locker for safekeeping, when he opened the locker they had mysteriously slipped into one of his bags!Read more

    Coach to Southampton

    November 6, 2017 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ☀️ 3 °C

Well, up to now the coach journey has been good.
The check in at the coach station was great and very quick, we got on the first coach to leave and we are making good time, despite having to come off the motorway at Stoke to avoid an accident.
Back on now and halfway down the toll road.

    October 2, 2016 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

As we are on a back to back cruise out of Southampton 🇬🇧 we decided to have a walk over to the city centre, which looks like a nice shopping area, with the new West Quay Shopping Mall, and the busy main street which is mainly pedestrianised, which is a plus.
I didn't get a really good look around as Sheila was with me and she can't walk far.
But I did notice some parts of the old city walls that have been discovered.
So the next time I get a chance, I'm definitely going to explore Southampton a lot more.

    Back Home

    July 24, 2016 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

    Well that's another cruise completed.
Over all a decent cruise, but mainly due to the friends we have in the diamond and concierge lounges.
Our cabin was a junior suite number 1354 situated close to the lifts on deck 10,so very handy for both lounges and the Windjammer.
One of the down sides to the cruise was the lack of senior officer visibility, and also the suites concierge Naja was not the best, her attitude left a lot to be desired.
Anyway our trip home was excellent and from leaving the ship to arriving at our house took 3 hours 50 minutes and that included a 30 minute coffee break.

    July 10, 2016 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Good journey down to Southampton 🇬🇧, mainly due to Andrew Gibb texting Sheila to tell her that the A34 was completely blocked by an overturned lorry.
We where actually only a mile or so from the A34 exit off the M42.
So we stayed on the motorway and came around the M4, M3 etc.
Martin and Andrew where stuck for about two hours on the A34 😵.
Boarding the ship was very good and quick, after we'd braved the initial mob at the boarding gate doors.
We went to the concierge lounge last night, and the gang where all there, I won't name them all as there's two many, but I will just mention George and James, who I didn't expect to see as they'd not emailed me or anything.
Suffice to say, we should have an interesting cruise.

    Last night blues

    June 16, 2016 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

Usual sad goodbyes to friends old and new.
As has become the norm I made a couple of new friends on the trip.
But little "Diamond" Joe made lots and lots of new friends. It seemed like everyone on the ship knew him. We couldn't go anywhere without someone saying hi to him.
He's been a star the whole trip with his waving at everyone, and also doing he new trick, which is the high five.
Oh yes we had a nice surprise last night.
Don't know if I told you, but Sheila and I had a balcony cabin each, all to do with some booking problems, anyway we were only using one of the cabins and the other was spare.
Sheila and Nic had spoken to some people from Liverpool, who where with a severely disabled sister in an inside cabin, and they were having some problems with space and guest services had said there where no spare cabins on the ship, so Sheila said if they wanted they could use our spare balcony cabin.
We didn't want any money or anything for it, they could just have it.
Anyway we got all their details transferred to the new cabin and that was that, or so we thought.
As last night Jayeon the diamond concierge came over and told us that guest services had issued us with a voucher for 20% off a future cruise for our kindness in letting the other family have our balcony cabin.
Which I thought was a nice gesture. Also Nic and Joe got a 15% voucher for a future cruise discount, because Joe couldn't use the swimming pool.
So in the end everyone is happy 😊.

    it's all about visibility

    June 6, 2016 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

We are in the diamond lounge, well outside the lounge as we have Joe, and no kids allowed during happy hour.
Anyway that's fine because the concierge is lovely and said no problem with taking the drinks out of the lounge.
The other thing is, this is the first night, and already two of the head chefs are in the diamond lounge saying hello and chatting to people.
To me that is important, it shows that the staff appreciate your loyalty and go out of their way to say hello.
The last ship I was on not one of the senior management team came around the lounge.

    June 6, 2016 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Just done the muster, it was outside but the weather here is still beautiful, so no complaints there, lol.
Our Nic and Joe were in the next muster station to Sheila and I, and when the general emergency signal was sounded it frightened the life out of him.Read more
