After driving 9 long hours we finally arrived at Gregg Lake Campgroud. This was our 3rd campground attempt, with all being full.

At Gregg Lake, Russ asked the registration clerk if there are any sites available? The conversation went like this...
"Are you from States?"
"Yes, how did you know?"
"You are aware that this is a Canadian long weekend?"
"So I've been told."
"You are aware that is very unlikely that you will find a campsite in Canada on a Saturday without a reservation."
"Yes, I'm aware. Do you happen to have a cancellation?"
"Let me look. Looks like your lucky day, we have one cancellation."
"Thank you. It's better to lucky than good."

We are trying to be near to Jasper National Park so that we can try to grab a campsite tomorrow.

Dined on "poor man's" lobster and steak. Poor man's lobster is halibut cooked in salt and suger that tastes just like lobster. Yummy 🙂Read more

Jasper NP - Glaciers Galore

We visited some amazing glaciers today in Jasper National Park.

Stayed at the Snaring River Overflow campground. This site was a open gravel pit next to the train tracks that seemed to run every hour. We felt bad for our tent camping neighbors.Read more

Jasper NP - Agreeable Animals

The animals in Jasper National Park were very agreeable today. Big Horn Sheep, Mountain Goats, Elk, Black Bear, Whitetail deer.

No photos of the bear. There were people standing 10 feet from it with their kids. Didn't want to witness what might happen when the bear decides to eat.Read more

Banff NP and Lake Louise, AB

Enjoyed the day kicking around Banff National Park. Since it is Monday, finding a campsite was easy. Fighting the hordes of people at every scenic viewpoint was not.

We finished the day by scoring a parking spot in the "full" parking lot at Lake Louise. Then got front row seats at the Alpine Social Fairmont Hotel garden for beer and nachos. Our luck is still with us!😊Read more

Yahk Provincial Park, BC

After driving 300 miles we decided to call it a day at the last Provincial Park in BC.

We are 8 miles from the US border. We will cross the border tomorrow. Hope to camp around Coeur d'Alene Lake tomorrow.

In lieu of showers, we bathed in the crystal clear Yahk River. Very refreshing! Sorry, no pictures.Read more

Heyburn State Park, Idaho

We were stopped and questioned at the US Border. Dave invoked the suspicion when he admitted we had green onions in our possession. The gun possession was of no concern, but we can't have a bunch of scruffy scofflaws trying to sneak green onions in the country. Once they inspected the onions and found that they were from Mexico, we were allowed to proceed without issue. We can all rest assured that our borders are safe.

The fuel prices in Northern Idaho are about $2.00 per gallon cheaper than Southern BC. 😀

We are staying at Hawley Landing Campground at Heyburn State Park. Heyburn is on the southern end of Couer d'Alene Lake. We drove up the Saint Joe river and did some stream fly fishing. Dave caught some small Cutthroat Trout.

The radiator is starting to lose a little fluid again. Added some more Stop Leak and will be watching it closely.Read more

McCall, ID - Deer and Beer

While entering McCall city limits, Dave came a few feet from bagging a big buck with the truck and trailer. The trailer brakes locked up, leaving a mark on Hwy 55. We were so close we could count all six of his velvet points. We thought we heard the deer drop the F-bomb.

We stopped for a pint at Salmon River Brewing. Met up with Steve, Dave’s brother, who lives in McCall.

We stopped by and fished Dave's super secret trout fishing hole on mile post 1??. Lots of fish, bites every cast.

We will be staying in Donnelly, ID for the night.Read more

We completed our epic North to Alaska adventure! Mission accomplished! We had a great time.

We have memories that will last a lifetime and at least 5 years of stories to tell our families.
